I am convinced Sucker Punch uses TvTropes.

In their latest PS Blog post they spoke tropenise. Not many people would use the term Big Bad to describe their main villain.

The writers could be lurking on this site as we speak...

I can't see Sucker Punch devs as buffy fans.

Did they reference any other tropes? If they start namedropping things like The Lancer, or Macross Missile Massacre, or Narm, then yeah, they're tropers.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...

Maybe, maybe not. Big Bad was popularized by Joss Wendon with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and a movie with fighting waif could have drawn inspiration from Buffy.

Big Bad was the name of the main antagonists from Monster Rancher's cartoon, and given all the claims of "Live Action Anime" its possible an "Anime" like Monster Rancher was the a partial inspiration for Sucker Punch, especially since it involves a waif fighting monsters not a female waif but there are plenty other Anime that do.

Big Bad was the title the Brother's Grim gave to at least two of their antagonists in the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.

edit:I should type shorter posts so this kind of thing stops happening to me[up][up][up]

Um...I don't think this is in the right sub-forum, but I don't know which one would work.

Assuming the OP was referring to these guys, then it's in the right subforum.

Oh, I thought you were talking about that movie with the...I should have known better, sorry. Maybe Sucker Punch does use TV tropes, I wouldn't know.

It was strange, I thought I was on the movie board when I made that post then saw the topic in video games.

Not many people would use the term Big Bad to describe their main villain.
You don't read Game Spy, IGN or any other video game review thingamabob online at all, do you? It's the most common way of referring to the main villain on the Interwebs other than saying "main villain", which is a mouthful. And I never watched Bt VS which others say popularised the term. That's Popcultural Osmosis for you =)
