I thought this was about the live-action film and was wondering why this was posted in the Anime & Manga section. (Good movie, by the way.)
Haruhi Fujioka. Intelligent, driven, generous and caring but not a pushover, extremely practical, and over the course of the series learns that it's also okay to have some fun once in a while. Screw Haruhiism; Other-Haruhiism is way better for anyone who doesn't want to behave like a total jackass.
Oh, and she's not too hung up about issues of gender or sexuality.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Hmm, Meruru-chan is great but she's not that different from Nanoha. Well, except that she's dumber but that's what constitutes her moe innocence anyway.
Uh, that being said, I think one of my role models would be Tohsaka Rin. We both hate losing and we always strive to do out best in anything that we do, no matter the odds.

Imoutos are the best! Follow at your own risk. Tumblr.Shinji Ikari. There's a lot about him to dislike, that much the interwebs have made obvious. But no matter how much pain he's in or how much he suffers, he just keeps goddamn trucking.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialExcept in End of Evangelion... although he still gets it right eventually.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Ashitaka. I like that he does what he thinks is just whether or not people try to stop him, and also doesn't run around being preachy about it. He's badass. He tries to foster peace in the land, which is always good. And finally, I think it would be awesome if I had my own red elk friend-companion.
And this is kind of embarrassing, but I do look up to Princess Tutu whenever I'm feeling particularly in despair. So much hope...in one little duck.... ;w;
Tumblr here.*sighs* Really, do we need sarcasm everywhere?
Mine would be either Otonashi or/and Dr. Tenma, for the same reason: they really go out of their way, even though they don't have to, to help other people. Unlike Touma, who I really don't like, they both have a proper motivation to do so.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Mr. Kimura. The model for a good teacher.
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)ハヤテお兄様~~~ *
He's strong and high in stamina!
He's self-sufficient and skilled in many practical fields!
He's kind and considerate!
He's lovely and handsome!
He's brave and always motivated!
He can teleport! He can survive in any situation!
He can play the violin! He's excellent at cooking! He can slice apart a boulder with a standard sword!
And he's adorable.
~Hayate~ Hayate~ Hayate~
Oh how I wish I could be like you~ No matter how hard I try I can barely come close! But even if my best is nowhere near your unrealistic grandeur, i'll never succumb to envy even after I fall into my deepest lows!
Ohhh Hayate~~~♥ You're so sweet, huggable and innocent~!
Squee!!!
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits....

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Jonathan Joestar. Even when he had no special powers to speak of, he stood up to Dio, who had already become a vampire. And through sheer guts and cunning, he was almost victorious as well. Aside from that, generally a great guy.
In fact, all the protagonists are very good at showing what steel nerves and quick thinking can achieve.

Kamina, who stands up to anyone and everyone, no matter how powerful.
What, why is everyone staring at me?

Sugiura Midori. Friendly, cheerful, hard working, devoted woman who loves her charges, thinks before acting despite the appearances, can overcome her grief unlike 99% of the rest of the cast, is fair minded, loves justice without being overbearing about it, and won't take crap from anyone but isn't an arrogant stuck up either.

You can't choose one from those three?
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I strive to be some sort of sick combination of all of the above.
CAUSE EVERY GIRL IS CRAZY 'BOUT A SHARP DRESSED MANDudes, why Kamina? He was just the prototype. Simon was the factory-ready model, mixing the hot-blooded passion and inspirational leadership with a kinder, more approachable demeanour, genuine intelligence, and true, iron-hard determination rather than simply being psychologically unable to retreat.
What's precedent ever done for us?Haruhi Suzumiya. I'm not saying she doesn't have her flaws. But someone like that is a great role model for me because I need to learn how to take charge more and have fun with life. Different people need different role models. And now because of Character Development she isn't mean anymore. Boisterous and brash, maybe, but not cruel or evil. I am a Haruhiist, and proud of it.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.Indeed. I first used to abhor her, but I grown to appreciate and even admire her enthusiasm. There is no such thing as "I don't feel like doing it." in her life and no matter how absurd something is, she will try it.
To overstate things, she practically embodies the power that pushes humanity forward.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Strong personalities like them are good.
This thread is about role models, but I don't paticularly aspire to be like any paticular character. Almost all of them would go to far against what I my own identity (it's not easy to be me after all).
Therefore I try to be myself while taking pointers from Kamina, Haruhi and Yotsuba. Think like Kamina to always act rather than over thinking things, think like Haruhi to talk yourself out of anything and Yotsuba to enjoy everything.
The main characters I try to be like are probably Kyon, Lelouch and Archer mostly because of how cool and collected they usually come across as, but I've also copied Keima's ability to unashamedly game in public.
In addition to being fictional these characters are actually pretty bad role models in regular society, but that isn't to say they can't teach us anything and after all the only thing that matters is how our thoughts translate into actions.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Sendo Takeshi and Takamachi Nanoha come to mind.
Murrl LustFatMItou Matoko. He died the way he lived, a man with single-minded devotion to his ideals.
Heh. Mine was Gendoh, mainly because I saw lots of parallels between him and me. Not in the bastardry, mind you, but in the alienation and bitterness
A good runner-up would be Near

If you eat a live frog in the morning, nothing worse will happen to either of you for the rest of the day.
Who would be your biggest role model in anime/manga? There's probably some obvious ones. Kamina, Nanoha, etc, etc.
Suginami◊ would be mine. Kind, funny, and an all-around nice guy. Also, he happens to plan a temporary takeovers of parts of the school all the time, takes up the occult as a hobby and sacrifices his friends as part of his schemes.
