A single unified LGBTQ+ conversation

The way that's worded sounds a little bit like he's being gaslit...but then one of the comments there makes him sound a little racist so I don't even know anymore.

Honestly it sounds like it still happened. It just might have been distorted by old memories. But that's incredibly common for victims of old crimes.

It does however bring up an issue to discuss— how do we, as a society, handle the more "mundane" crimes.

It's worth remembering that statistics for false accusations do include ones that are sincere, but come about from misremembered situations or cases of mistaken identity.

Let's keep in mind that Takei made comments on the Howard Stern show that implied the assault in question really happened and he tried to pass the accusations off as a smear campaign from Russian bots. The accuser apparently had told people about it in the past as a "joke", and honestly...that's not really that far off from what happens in this society where rape culture and toxic actions are normalized frequently. Now, yeah, the accuser in question is also coming off as kinda racist in there, but that doesn't mean the assault never happened.

I've been gaslit before, I know how this shit works. Takei isn't off the hook here and I still feel that he did something inappropriate. This Twitter thread here goes into some detail about it and explains it better than I probably can, but this does not absolve Takei.

So today I found I do pass well enough to get gendered correctly by strangers.

Even if it was just a mother telling her daughter (who also kept kicking me in the shins) to stop crawling around under the table I was sat at on the train.

It's a small victory but with how meh the rest of my day was I'll take it.

Good very good.

I guess it helps that this time I was dressed rather less androgynously (something about the bright green skirt and slightly exaggerated makeup job so it wouldn't get drowned out by my costume wig).

So, a good friend of mine happens to be Mt F transgender, but she can't actually start her transition until she moves out of her parents' house. She experiences a lot of episodes of dysphoria and depression because of that.

I wanted to know if any of you all had suggestions for how I could help make her feel better whenever that happens. We only know each other online, so I can't be there for her in person, but I care enough about her to help in just about any other way.

Ask her. Like everyone is different. There is some advice I could give, but it could easily be something she doesn't want.

She could try small things (wearing non-visible makeup, pins in her hair, etc).

So it's my local Pride next week and I'm actually hoping to try and go this year.

Yep happy pride month my comrades! And hopefully I'll get to go because my mom has clinics that she's trying to promote at events and I can use that to join.

I always assumed that anybody who wanted to take part in the pride marches could just join in, but I guess there needs to be some control. I think there's been one in my city since 2006, but it's not my kind of thing, too extravagant. Where's the event you're going to?

Well typically my mom won't let me attend pride due to her homophobic-ness but with her diabetes clinics need more patients. As for location it's in Houston

I'm going to the Pride Parade with my friends. My parents will not know. My friend is going to play wing woman for my bisex-a and my pan friend.

So it's been a year to the day since I started the referral process, and just under a year since I was first told I was on the waiting list.

And right now it feels like the light at the end of my transition tunnel is further away than ever.

Bleh, famed sitcom writer Graham Linehan (known for Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd) has come out as a TERF by:

• Trying to give TERFs credit for the repeal of the 8th amendment in Ireland^note Legalising abortion (Ireland being one of the few western democracies to outlaw it), essentially
• Repeatedly insulting and misgendering a trans man on twitter for getting top surgery (including comparing trans people to David Cronenberg's monsters).

Just keep waiting. I had to wait nearly two. It's hard, but it gets better.
