But I wanted to dedicate my books to my english teachers D:
Read my stories! The acknowledgements section is your friend, then.
I...think? Maybe? I don't really know where you would put something like that.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsAcknowledgements is for listing help you received. Dedication page is for who you want to dedicate it to. (Like, say, I want to dedicate this song to my pet cow St. Croix).
That said, no one's stopping us from making new sections.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I was planning on snarkily dedicating my books with rotten teachers to the worst school I attended.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.I already thought of this ahead. TV Tropes would be mentioned by name in the (admittedly short and really only there for gags and padding until The Stinger) Credits section.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Addendum: This pact is not for those who will partake of vanity publishing, because we don't want you taking a crap on our poorly-known name.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."^ What prompted that?
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Bit of a half-serious joke. I thought of it on the toilet while reading The Children Of Hurin for some reason. How the mind wanders...
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."AHR: You can dedicate books to more than one person/organization/vague group of people, y'know.
Sounds like a plan.
Yes it does strange things. For example I remembered the below song the moment I saw the thread title.

Has ADD, plays World of Tanks, thinks up crazy ideas like children making spaceships for Hitler. Occasionally writes them down.I'll put TV Tropes on my acknowledgment page.
..has there ever been any published tropers?
Oh, wait, I already made a thread about that.
"This book is a tribute to the awesome people who edit the TV Tropes wiki and my fellow writers on the forums. Without you all, I never would have been able to put this together."
I just thought of that yesterday.
So yeah, I'm in. I owe too much to you guys. To pretend you didn't help me is against my moral code. And I don't have much of a moral code, so that's really something.

Warm hugs and morally questionable advice given here. Prosey BitchfestAll right, I'm in!
... wait, this pact isn't to lose our virginity before graduation?
I'm out.
My Blog | My Steam profileI was already planning on it. "Thank you"'s outline (at least the portion I that has relevance here:
Except you, Chagen 46. You, sir, failed to rock.''

If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I already planned to do this in the credits section of Stuck.

oh, that's why I need this binary mind // ⌘I'm in!
Mine already contains a nod in the Acknowledgements, so it'd get a namedrop from me.
"Thanks to the one, the only, and the indespensible TV Tropes, which gave me inumerable ideas for good old fantasy cliches to twist up, turn around, and generally mangle (especially the one about dwarves). Especial thanks to the troper 'Katrika,' without whom Mango would be perpetually nameless."

"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada@OP Dude...my story is basically TV Tropes: the novel, course I'm in.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. If it wasn't for TV Tropes, the tagline for my story (see sig) would be infinitely worse. If I get published, then one way or another I'll find a way to give my thanks.
My Wattpad — A haven for delightful degeneracyI only read the first post, and I have to say no.
I don't know who or what I am dedicating my book to, probably no one, or a fictional person, or blah IDK.
Actually, I will probably dedicate my magnum opus to myself, my struggles, and people that have been in my shoes. The things I have seen, how far I have survived when so many others would give up, it is hard. I do not mean to sound selfish, but without my struggles, I can't write, and without me, there is no book, and I want to inspire others, but I do not want to lie; I think much of myself for getting this far, and I want others too as well when they make it over that summit, and finally conquer their demons, no matter how small or big of a triumph it may be.
I'd be dedicating it to people from broken homes, the abused kids, the suffering and starving people in Africa, the universal struggle of mankind living under oppression and tyranny, both at the home and under the name of government.
That is, I will dedicate it to mankind's efforts and desires, our very core of our being, our lives, and our pain.
Kind of improvised there, but I think that is actually better articulated than I thought it might come out as.
edit: though many people will be in the 'thanks' section, I'll make sure to not pass by T.V. Tropes =D

as of the 2nd of Nov. has 6 weeks for a broken collar bone to heal and types 1 handed and slowlyI was already planning on referencing TV Tropes in my dedication page - along with an ever-growing list of others (some of whom, such as my parents, are dead and won't get to read it).
If I don't thank TV Tropes in the dedication, I'll at least end up name-dropping at least one trope in-story.
No one believes me when I say angels can turn their panties into guns.I'll thank Aerith and Bob and see who gets the reference.

The pact is simple. We're all tropers here, and if you're anything like me, TV Tropes has been indispensable to my writing.
Therefore, if any of us managed to get published, we should dedicate the book to TV Tropes.
