The picture is also on the page for System Shock, and I say it at least works better there. We just see "evil robotic face". A proper picture should show that something clearly mechanical is doing something clearly god-like.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

System Shock is the work(and the image is a part of the work) ,so I see no problem.

Wait. I put the trope in the thread title, not the work. So why did you respond as if I'm asking to change the work picture?

What I meant to say was that having the same image on a work and a trope is no issue.

Agreement. Dislike current image as it only shows robot face.

Motion to pull image.

Fight smart, not fair.

Seconded...I'd prefer a box art for System Shock but SHODAN's pretty iconic so she'll work better for that page.

Although with the propose split for Uncanny Valley, she might be perfect for the page about using that trope deliberately.

Eh, I wouldn't pull it unless we find a better image.

It's a bad image, as we just see an evil machine.

I still say for this one, we should have the box art for the first game as the work page's pic to follow the general principle we've used with other video game pages...I'm neutral on leaving the Shodan pic on this page as trying to depict this is going to be fairly hard.

But it's just a face and a caption. We don't see it doing anything godlike. It doesn't matter if it would be hard to show. The current picture doesn't show it at all.

How about something like when Neo "sees" Deus Ex Machina in Matrix Revolutions? [1]

(Yes, yes, lousy movie, the sequels don't exist, etc. But nevertheless the image seems fitting.)

Looks more like an explosion then anything else.

[up][up] Yeah, that doesn't really look like anything more than a huge bright explosion.

Current image definitely needs a pull. It's...a robot face. So...yes, presumably a machine, but the part that makes the trope a trope isn't anywhere to be seen.

If we can't find something better, the page can do without a picture.
