I really enjoyed it. I've never seen the original, although seeing the remake (I saw it today) has made be want to check it out. I thought that Peter Vincent and Evil Ed needed more scenes, simply because David Tennant was the best thing in the movie (and I'm not just saying that as a Doctor Who Fan Boy). Colin Farrel was creepy, even moreso when being nice and was clearly having a ball with the role. All in all, I'll check out the original to see how it compares, but as a movie on its own it rocked. It's a shame it hasn't done better at the box office, but I think a lot of people are either sick of vampires by now, or think that all vampire fiction is like Twilight.

It flopped because the marketing was awful. It didn't show any of the comedy and basically make it look like Disturbia meets Twilight. Also, they made a big deal out of the R rating (which reminded me of The Happening's marketing campaign) even though it looked like a safe PG-13.

Meanwhile, Disney and Dream Works spent most of their marketing on The Blind Side 2: Head of the Maids Union.

The trailer for this movies makes me think it's the vampire equivalent to Zombieland and Kick Ass. As in, part parody, part deconstruction, and part celebration of the genre. How close is that to the truth?

[up] Not at all.

It's a fairly straight vampire film with some humor.

I liked it. It was an entertaining two hours, managed some decent tension (particularly in the scene where Charlie's trying to sneak his neighbour out of Jerry's house) and watching David Tennant is always fun.

Also: A country-cover of 99 Problems? Wow.

Watched the original on Friday and it was pretty solid. Might check it part 2 if I find it, probably won't bother with the remake though.

This wasn't bad. Pretty good when compared with most pointless remakes of 80's films(*cough* The Thing *cough*)

The 3D was completely unnecessary though.
