But...but...TWEWY...

TWEWY was critically acclaimed, but it was still very much a niche game compared to those three. They only start making the original games once they've got plenty of money.
Always Right
Good to know. Gun Loco looked like crap to begin with. No idea what Project Dropship is since I can't find any videos or images.

Now if they make a new Final Fantasy...I'm kinda hoping they'd revisit those older fantasy settings in FF 4.

Sad about TWEWY though.

I don't think this means we wont get a second TWEWY, It just means that Square will mostly be releasing game from their biggest franchises for a while. I'm pretty sure that Nippon Ichi Software went through the same problem throughout the last two years.

As for my personal thoughts: well if there is any chance for a Final Fantasy VII remake, it will most likely be now.

Three Steps
If they release a new Final Fantasy and its bad then it doesn't matter too much. Everyone buys it anyway and hopes the next one's better. If they release a new obscure IP and it doesn't get good reviews then they lose a lot of money.

From the thread title, I thought that SE would be making Strong Bad games.

I was under the impression that this was their policy anyway.

Not much of a shame for me, so...

Makes sense, but i've vowed never to play another one of their games until i've read plenty of reviews. Front Mission Evolved was utter crap. Mindjack was utter crap. Final Fantasy XIV was, apparently, utter crap. Geez. I remember when neither Square nor Enix could do any wrong... Sometimes i miss the PS1 days.

Although Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest sequels are both inevitable and not a bad thing. They've already announced Front Mission V for a western release, so i'm a happy camper. A The World Ends with You sequel would make me hug a few kittens though. With the 3DS out i can hope it'll happen.

He'd want you do be doing something awesome right now.
Honestly, I miss the days (between 1999 - 2001) when Square was releasing new FF games every year. Sure, YMMV on most of those titles, but at least most people found something they liked.

[up][up]Well if they kept doing that then they would end up like Sega and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

Which is something that I don't want to start an argument about here.

Weren't FFIX, FFX, and FFXI all released within a short time frame of each other because they had different appeals? (FFIX for the nostalgic fans, FFX to continue the new horizons the series was exploring, and FFXI as a foray into more unconventional game play (a JRPG maker doing an MMO? Crazy!)

Well, even now, there are three Final Fantasy games off the top of my head (all in the Fabula Nova Crystallis (hee hee) compilation) that have been announced but haven't been released yet. I hope this means Dragon Quest X won't take too much longer to come out, since there's not a lot left to look forward to on the Wii's lineup besides Skyward Sword. As for Kingdom Hearts, I just want to know what system Birth By Sleep: Part Two will be on.

Five new I Ps doesn't seem too bad, though. Even if three of them are from the part of Square Enix I don't really pay attention to.

Morgan Freeman is God.
Guess this means I have to follow fan projects if I want more Chrono Trigger stuff.

[up] Well they did say that they'd make a chrono sequel if the DS version of chrono trigger sold about ten times as much as it did or something. So get buyin'.

Sometimes Square Enix can be really petty.

I don't think new sales count at this point.
Micromastophile
Whatever, just give me a new Final Fantasy Tactics, preferably with an older protagonist and original style setting.
Left Eye
Long as they don't mess up Type-0, Tomb Raider, Versus, or Hitman.... or KH 3 D.
Micromastophile
They alreddy messes up Deus Ex, so don't count on it.
Last I checked the main Final Fantasy series weren't very strong. XII was considered meh and XIII was not much better. and XIV was considered a steaming pile of [REDACTED]
So what does mean for parasitic eve?
Left Eye
[up][up]For XII and XIII it depends on who you ask.

For XIV it's universally considered bad.

[up][up][up] What happened to Deus Ex?
