I'm doing an au about reversed gender roles. Which double standards would you like to see stabbed with a rusty spork?
Men Are the Expendable Gender as well as The Unfair Sex. Not to mention Anything is okay if it's female on male. And Closer to Earth.

....so, basically, all of them. waii

Mother Nature, Father Science.

Seriously, I don't get the point behind this one. There is no good reason for scientists to be exclusively male and for the healers, botanists, and herbalists to be exclusively female.
I heard you like exceptions, so I put some exceptions in your exceptions

Women are plot devices and macguffins.

Seriously. Let's see it done to men.

Also, Abuse Is Okay When It's Female on Male, which I avert like a boss.

Seriously, I can't think of a single double standard that doesn't deserve to be utterly destroyed, so just pick and choose the ones you want.

If there's one in particular though... Men Are Average Women Are Special (or whatever that trope ended up being called) is one of the ones that's blatantly offensive to both men and women (they're all offensive, but this one is particularly obvious about it).

I can't stand double standards.

I won't go out of my way to see if I can "deal to" as many as possible in my works, but if a situation arises that would have a double standard in other places, then it'll be averted or deconstructed or whatever fits best in the story at that point.

The fact that men can't crossdress but women can.

Yes, I'm aware that women's clothes these days show a lot of skin and that doesn't look good on an average man. So obviously the solution is to cover up. You know it can be done when it is possible to draw Thor in a dress and make him look good in it.

Mostly all of them, but I really, REALLY ABHOR House Husband. I don't know why, but something about that trope really bugs this male troper.

Go away.
Personally, I think men can look pretty good with some skin showing, but that's just me.

Oh yeah, also, the whole "boys can't hit girls" thing every boy gets shovelled into his young mind. Yeah, because girls can bitchslap the fuck out of boys, but when a boy does it, it's suddenly reprehensible and wrong.

Always touching and looking. Piss off.

They can, yes, but it depends on the man.

Ooh those all sound good.

I am sort of worried that some females will read this and think that I am saying that female rights are a bad thing or something like that.

Some guys, you know, like to be abused by women... where the hell do you think abuse is okay when it is female on male comes from? Well, maybe I am wrong... though what I am thinking of is different than real abuse, so never mind.

Someone (female) hit me! I like it!

But maybe it would be a kick, the blood, and a girl hitting me. You know, before I realized how bad it was. I admit, I like women being physically violent with me, I see it as flirty, and I have this thing about... blood, the pain, not as much. The blood thing is non-sexual, but the hitting is.

But my point is I think in part why this trope is here is because some guys like to be 'abused' and this is a way to play to the 'fetishes' (for some).

No. The reason the trope is there is because of the popular (but wrong) belief that a real man should be able to 'take' it.

There's a difference between being in a consensual relationship with a partner who knows you like a particular thing (like say being hit) and abuse. Abuse is when it's done to a person without consent for the sake of exerting control over them.

I apologize if I sounded rude. I did not mean to.

I think I was confusing abusively sexy woman with a couple of other thigs, I looked at the trope article for both of those tropes, and neither of them are what I am into.

Though I will admit I have provoked a girl or two into hitting me before... I do not know if that would make them hitting me non-consensual or not... now that I think of it, it will probably one day get me arrested. Thank god I only did it with the one girl, and she was involved with a lot of fighting sports...

Sorry I'm getting the tropes jumbled up, for me, it's all in a weird stew and played with, but a lot of the elements are there, with the exception of it being okay when female on male... and for me it matters not if it is male on female, female on male, or female on female, maybe I just find being rough and physical between two partners sexy in general

Abuse is OK...that one.

It really annoys me, why are girls able to abuse men all the time??? Us men are always told to NEVER hit girls, and 99% of the time, we never do, but girls are almost always abusing their husbands, and getting away with it, it makes me sick. If us men don't hit women, then women shouldn't hit men. If there was male on female abuse, it'd be different, but there's not, so girls should learn to control themselves, or else we should all hit them. See how they like it.

^Honestly...no one should hit anyone except in self defense and nobody male or female should be abused.

Yeah. I don't approve of women getting away with hitting men and men being unable to retaliate, but the way you worded your post, Nick, sounds somewhat misogynistic.

No offense but...uh some of the terminology on that site(But What About The Poor Mens) kinda gave me a kneejerk 'ick' reaction.

It just....sounded like something on F!S.

But...still saying "we should all hit them!" is just...no. Not cool. Hitting people does't really solve anything and perpetuates a cycle of violence.
