But the bunny hops were really the worst part of that level, for me. The rest of it wasn't so bad, even the water part (especially if you had a heart). It was just those frickin' bunny hops!

So what's everyone's favorite music in the game? Mine is probably "Lums of the Water," which I think I posted somewhere else in this topic. But "Land a Chef" is a very close second. Incidentally, my opinion seems to be a common one, as "Lums of the Water" has the highest view count on You Tube of all the RO songs, it seems.

This is a treat.

One thing I have to learn for treasure chases is to suppress my glide instinct. That said, you know you have a great game when even the hardest levels don't kill your 'Just one more level' sensation. The controls are absolutely sublime. I don't think I've felt such a sense of momentum in any other platformer I've played.

[up]: 'Tis the truth. Glide will kill you like a mofo if you let the urge take you. I kind of think that's what the second Skull Tooth is out to show you—yes, you want to glide, but it won't do well by you if you do.

When you get into a really good flow, it is simply the most awesome platform game in existence. No contest.

Although, that frog guy that pops up after you fail a level segment several times annoys me. Stop reminding me that I suck! No, I don't want to leave! Why have I been playing the first portion of 'High Voltage' fifteen times?!

I love how it never shows up in Treasure levels. You're expected to die a lot.

[up][up][up][up]That's why I suggested the glide. And I never really liked Lums of the Water, the vocals put me off in that one for some reason.

[up] It's like Ubisoft knows you'll die a lot and put him there to make your Rage Quit more... graceful-ish?

Seriously though, the very first part of 'High Voltage' had me raging so hard. Especially that bit after the bouncy drum where you have to wall jump between those shocky thingies.

I am so glad they don't have a lives system. The game is challenging enough.

For me, the evilest part of "High Voltage" was the ending, actually. Where you have to time your run and glide. At least they put the game's most soothing track in that level. It is like they knew! It's almost, like, the game designers were doing their jobs! :P

I'm debating whether to buy the PS3 or Wii version of the game. Are there any major differences between the versions?

[up][up]All Steam games have DRM, man. It's just that Valve's DRM is far more reasonable than Ubisoft's.

[up] To be pedantic, some Steam games actually are DRM free, you can launch the executable without Steam. Not very many though.

But yes, you're right.

@Manga: None, unless the lack of HD in the Wii version really, really bothers you.

And the PS 3 version has, like, two additional nine-second jingles that sometimes play when you grab the Lum Kings, so I guess if eighteen seconds of different music also really bothers you...

Yeah, The Wii version is fine.

If you have a crappy CRT screen like I do, you may have to change your Wii screen settings to widescreen, otherwise you get letterboxing, which makes the visuals hard to see clearly.

The achievements for the PS Vta versian have been posted. There are four extra trophies, two for finding relics, one for popping item bubless wih the touch screen and one for popping enemie bubbles with the touchscreen.

Also, I realize that this a few days old, but here's the trailer for the HD rerelease of Rayman 3

I have to say, the Angsty Abyss trasure chase was...not particularly hard.

Sure, it took me some dozen tries, but it didn't feel that much more difficult than any of the others.

Popping bubbles with the touchscreen? Sounds kinda... gimmicky and not particularly comfortable.

Touchscreen usage! It should make sense! *shakes fist*

@Dezmo For some reason, I don't like the redone Rayman 3 logo. Seems like a tacky ripoff of the Origins logo.

^^ Now that's interesting...considering the rather low sales of the game to begin with. Maybe it was a low-budget title that befits a game meant for the PSN/XBL marketplaces?

Not to take anything away from that success...After all, at least it's making money.

I imagine it's doing better now due to word of mouth. It's got that long-tail seller thing going on: Not a lot of advertising at first, a little bit expensive at first, then price drop. Couple that with a lot of people saying very good things about it, its availability on just about everything with more systems upcoming, and people get interested.
