Firefly - seriously, no one has brought that up yet? But before the war and all that. I'm thinking somewhere out in the inner fringe reaches. Close enough so that technological wonders aren't a rarity, but far enough out so that I don't have a million neighbors within a twenty mile radius.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Well, even aside Reapers, terrorist organisation, geth attacks and the like... most colonies seem to be pisspoor container villagers constantly under threat of raiders, the Alliance is only out for galactic standing and power and doesn't really care about its people, and the megacorporations rule supreme with impunity... and that's only the humans, nevermind what happens to some alien races like the quarians, krogan or drell. Beneath the glittering surface I don't think it's a nice setting at all. Which makes it interesting, but yeah, wouldn't want to live there. Not as human, at least.
It's odd. It seems to be either a setting is technologically stagnating, nullifying any "sci-fi bonus" so to say, or if it is believably advanced then it is unstable and has dark sides etc.

Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken. Unrelated ME1 Fanficx to 21
I don't think you understand what I meant by a stretch, which is for me to adapt to and live in, as opposed to believability or verisimilitude.
Compared to today, it's enough step forward without being too far to understand.

Cowboy Bebop's universe looks pretty damn cool to live in, though that may just because I've been binging on the series for the past two days.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.Does Pokemon count as sci-fi?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? The Culture is pretty much perfect by most standards. Of course, that makes it pretty boring to live in, but hey, you can't have everything.
Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.Well actually, you can. But well...
But if you have everything, you can't have the sense of having to strive for something.
Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.Either Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy or Enders Game.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.Yes but, that would fall under everything...but...>.<
Congratulations! If you can respond, you've passed my test. If not, haha, how'd you like that, robot scum!
I can't believe I forgot both Card's universe and Adams'. Although now that I think about it, reality in Adams' universe is a little unsafe. I wouldn't mind Card's universe that much, though.

I probably would like to live in Adam's place, as long as I got off Earth before stuff.
Not so much in the Ender verse.
Enderverse? Definitely not pre-end of the Bugger War.
Well yeah, but after that (and the wars on Earth) it was great, just kind of boring.
Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.I could see being apioneer of a new planet would be a very interesting and fufilling life, if not particularily safe.
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.@27 I thought about Firefly, but from what I've seen, it isn't too great. The outer worlds are lawless wastelands while the inner worlds suffer under a corrupt dystopian government. Though presumably things get a little better post Serenity.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayEr, would The Metamorphosis Of Prime Intellect be an acceptable answer?
I knew someone was going to ask, and I totally hope so
Even though Pokémon is to sci-fi what tofu is to meat.

Your avatar is why I'm kinda glad Pokemon don't actually exist.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.Cyberspace in The Metamorphosis Of Prime Intellect. For one thing, to have a good life in this setting, it isn't necessary to assume you'll be lucky enough to be born an Alpha, win the Superpower Lottery, or get selected by forces beyond your control into some other privileged group. In cyberspace, socioeconomic status is obsolete. There is no scarcity, there are no biological needs, slavery is impossible, tyranny is possible, crimes with victims are impossible, and everyone can warp reality. The one downside is that death is impossible* , but that's okay in practice because suffering is optional, and it's possible to go dormant or wirehead indefinitely.
One of the Gundamverses. Probably CE.

My other signature is a Gundam.Kind of want to give Fallout universe a go. I do so want to get me a raider chick not unlike Viper in Doomsday.
I'd want to be able to switch between Firefly and Babylon 5 'verses. Or be in one that had aspects of both.
For some reason I feel compelled to live in the Starcraftverse
Octo: Oh certainly. You do have to keep in mind that that game throws you headlong into the absolute worst side the setting has to offer, but there are definitely flaws to the general case too.
And like I said, sci-fi tends to run overtly worse
