Should we bother to save pandas?:

@Kino: pretty sure most japanese dont even know about it. Most of it is labelled in stores as "whale meat"

I don't know, I kind of thing warped priorities and the implications thereof should be confronted.

^Yeah, I have to adgree.

If somebody argues that there is something that is ‘worth saving’, then there is a person who wants to save it. Therefore automatically giving it a value.

Moral relativism -while attractingly nihilistic- is ultimately self-defeating.

Pages ago people were complaining pandas were endangered due to humans.

Well, it turns out pandas were already in decline. In the last 2 million years the clade pandas belong to, Ailuropodinae, has been reduced to a single genus, and of that genus only one species survives. And that species was already on the way to destruction until people decided it was too cute to allow it to die.

Quite honestly, fuck the pandas. Pandas are the most useless tetrapods ever. They have no role whatsoever in their ecosystem other than yet another bamboo eater (other bamboo eaters exist, like the red panda, meaning that the giant panda's role would not be missed), and bamboo constantly dies off, making pandas starve to death, as they are too lazy to eat anything else.

So not only are we favouring a race of Always Chaotic Retarded useless bears, but we're killing off genuinely helpfull species like leatherback sea turtles, franciscanas and river sharks, all of which help maintain the ecological balance in their aquatic ecosystems, yet they appearently deserve to die because they're not as cute.
A single phrase renders Christianity a delusional cult.
