"Sure," Incubus smiled a little as he took a cigarette, "Now, you seem like a reasonable guy - why precisely would you attempt this. I mean, you were barely here for 5 minutes before it turned nasty."

Jackal lighted his cigarette

Well, I'm a desperate man. and you know what they say: desperate times...

the Jackal then offers Incubus his lighter

Incubus holds out his cigarette to be lighted.

"Desperate measures." The tall man took a drag from the cigarette, "I can sympathize with that sentiment."

Glad we're understanding each other. But I don'tneed your understanding, friend. no matter how good it feels. What I need is an helicopter and every single file with my name on the city hall to be destroyed forever.

"Now, that's a demand that didn't come out earlier." Incubus smiled, "Also, it's not exactly something we can do without knowing your name."

Well, for one thing, I just came up with it. I thought of simply not being chased...but I realized that that wouldn't do, now would it?

Jackal blew off some smoke rings

Oh, you don't know my name? Intelligence on the NTPD is getting bad... - Said the Jackal absentmindedly

"Hey it took them this whole time to call me and they didn't even send out a car with a cool siren - no need to tell me they're getting shoddy." Incubus laughes as he smoked his cigarette, "We've just been tossing around The Jackal."

Ha, well, sirens are not neede for negotiators, are they? But I digress...will you be able to secure those things for me, mister...?

"Wolf." Incubus smiled amicably, "Malachi Wolf."

As he took another drag from his cigarette he sent out a message to Ford and Doppler.

Oy! This guy's trying to wrap up the conversation! Do we have a name and how much more time do you need? He apparently has records that need erasing so MOVE!

From the side, Doppler grinned. Stepping back, he did one last of the upper-floor windows for any trace of human presence. There was the possibility that there would be sentries on the second floor, though their presence on the third floor was less likely, or they would have noticed the corner hacked out of the building already.

Wolf, it is, then. You got to understand, Mr. Wolf...that my life is in danger. And sending me and my men back to prison would be murder.

Doppler's scan revealed the two men on the second floor with two hostages as well as the explosives on the stairs leading to the third floor.

Doppler thought back quickly: tell him you're coming out for consultations or something. Also, the type of helo. How big, how much fuel, where to fly it?

Time was approaching for the raid. As long as the SWAT men stayed close to the alley sides, they should not be detected. The issue was the men upstairs, but if the detonator was tucked away in the desk matters were simplified entirely. Of course, there was the risk of manual backups...

Doppler raised the radio to his lips and described the situation to Ford, along with the recommended assault plan. "We need to hit the lobby with flashbangs and stinger grenades if we want those hostages alive, the moment the SWAT teams breach in. I'm thinking two teams, one front, one from the side, and have one team secure the stairwell just as we stage a distraction out front. That'll get the men upstairs to look out the window, instead of going for the bomb."

Incubus stopped mid-breath. This man was being sincere. Hearing Doppler's message, he pressed further, intrigued.

"In danger, you say?" He asked, "Why not turn to the police then? Or any one of the supers running about town?"

Well, for one thing...it isn't as easy as you think. And it's not like I don't have superpowers...

Besides, the people I'm running from aren't mooks or idiots of any kind. If I went into witness protection, they would kill me.

All I want is to dissappear, forever.

Ford: OK, then Doppler. I'll send the teams as commanded. You will send the orders through the radio.

Incubus resisted the urge to facepalm himself - that's what was different. Another Super. He wasn't expecting that, given how... crude the execution had been. He was so used to dealing with the average idiot human.

Ford, Doppler - this guy can teleport stuff. He says he's in danger and needs WP can't help him.

An eye on the detonator. "I take it you can teleport yourself as well. That's how you're getting out of here."

Not really, no. I can't teleport living things. And I can only teleport by touch.

The Jackal puts his hand on the desk and then it disappeared. For it to appear in front of the door as a makeshift barricade

Well, correction, I can teleport living things, like bacteria and amebas. But as humans, animals and plants are too dificult to reproduce correctly. So...when I teleport them...I teleport them...incompletely, so to speak.

But my range is almost infinite. I can teleport to anywhere I know. If I visited a place, it's a viable destiny. Not like it matters to the conversation at hand. I know there isn't much of a plan here to follow on my demands. Otherwise you'd have already called them, mister Wolf...

Doppler felt his heart go into overdrive. Not good. Ask who his men are to be involved with him...?

"Captain Ford, tell the assault teams to stand-to. I'm assuming you got his message just as I did. Also, have HQ check prison records for any escaped supers or the like."

Ford: Way ahead of you, doppler. Prisons got nothing on him. He hasn't escaped anywhere. All we know is that he's a crime boss. And that his name might be Jack.

"Ah... incomplete." Incubus kept his eyes on the man's hands: if he tried to teleport him he'd be dead. "You know that you could really chalk it up to my idiocy, right? So, are the other men supers too?"

Well, Mr Wolf, I don't think I'd be willing to compromise my friends' safety. I offered my voice and my face so they shouldn't have to. I compromised my own identity in order for them to remain faceless and unknown, why would I break such an agreement?

and I recommend that you call at some point, Mr Wolf. I may be a patient and calm man, but I don't think that I have enough time...

Incubus pulled out his phone and hit the speed dial.

"Ford? I'm coming out." He made a show of looking kinda peeved, "We want a helicopter and a wipe of all government records."

Details, details...ask him about the capacity and range on the helicopter, at least, or else the airfield's going to send a two-seat helo with just enough range to make the precinct.

Doppler grit his teeth. It should be possible for him to disable the detonator somehow. The trouble was, he did not know on which of a thousand channels the detonation signal would be sent on; jamming all of them ran the risk of setting off the explosives himself, if the radio detonators were especially crude devices. He would need literally lightspeed reflexes if he began jamming the moment Jackal hit the button, which he did not possess. Plan B, then.

Wolf, can you send me a visualization of the detonator? What is it—a repurposed remote control, a jury-rigged cell phone, what? I may be able to disable it remotely.

Ford: Why are you calling me? And you do realize we are not listening to his demands, right?

Incubus looked over to the detonator, transmitting the image to Doppler. Putting the phone to his breast, he turned slightly to the Jackal, still keeping an eye on the detonator.

Of course I know we're not listening you - That was a thought he chose not to transmit.

"What kind of helicopter? Capacity? Fuel? Range?" He then shrugged casually, "Cuz they're gonna end up sending something pathetic otherwise."
