Where can you get this game, anyway? From the trope page it sounds pretty interesting.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I'll wait for the steam sale given I still have 8 games to finish from the B 2 G 2 and the good Gothic games.

It's out on Steam for $14.99 $13.49.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!For another few hours anyway.
of course, it'll probably be down to 80% off at some point, so it's not a bad thing to wait.
Mount and Blade is basically a budget Elder Scrolls, so if you're hungry for some open world RPG, try it out. The graphics are not great, but the RPG is addictive.
Jonah FalconNo, that's a really bad claim. M&B is nothing like TES at all.
M&B basically sticks you into a small war-torn area divided by the various factions and tells you to become as successful as you can. It's not an "open world" at all, it's a combat game with a overworld map. Combat is pretty neat though (The melee is simple, but still one of the most effective, with characters doing left, right, overhead and thrust attacks that can be blocked with the matching block direction, or a limited HP shield, mounted units have much more strategic consideration than faster movement, and has quite large battles that Bethesda's shitty engine craps out when attempting). With Fire and Sword gives you the long awaited feature of an actual story line instead of just eventually trying to kill everyone and works out the iffy siege mechanics.

Blowing holes in walls!
More than one ladder at a time!
Polish winged hussars!
Multi-day battles!
This will be awesome!
How do you even control your army in this game? Does it just do its own thing, or what?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.You give orders to unit types (Original) or pre-assigned groups (Warband and presumably this) with "hold this spot" "Go here" "follow me" and "charge' being the main ones, but there are more.

Ah, okay.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I meant Elder Scrolls in the fact it's an open world and you have tons of options.
Jonah FalconArguably you can do more than in The Elder Scrolls.
Think of it this way: Imagine instead of trying to stop the conspiracy in Oblivion in your lonesome, you now go from village to village between Kvatch and The Imperial City, gathering recruits as you go, send them into battle against bandits, brigands, highwaymen and other lowlives, then turn them into an army fully clad in the best armor and armed with the biggest, most badass weapon money could buy, THEN turn the siege upside down - now YOU besiege the oblivion gates with your armies rather than the other way around. Oh, and in doing so many of the Elder Council would be impressed with you, and now they join you in your battle with their armies too!
Don't like all that? DECLARE INDEPENDENCE, trashing both the Imperial Legion AND the Daedra at the same time and be all badass when you do it with your equally badass army.
So for an analogy.s

I now go by Graf von Tirol.Well, that was... disappointing. Although combat itself was greatly improved (enemies camping in wagon squares, all the changes to sieges, grenades, etc.), the single-player was greatly worsened. There's no more choice in character background, and your character always has to be male.
So, basically, if you already have Warband, it might be better to play a mod in Warband with those features instead.
I like it so far.
Playing Male only doesn't bother me that much, considering that a common-born woman, running around, commanding mercenaries, becoming noble, etc.. would be even more ridiculous than in ordinary Mount and Blade. I like the new army-recruitment and improvement system (again, it makes far more sense) and I don't remember any Mod having anything like that. Now that I think about it, I cant remember any Mod situated in Renaissance Eastern Europe either.
The beginning is also pretty difficult in comparison to Mount and Blade or Warband, being more similar to mods like Prophecy of Pendor.
So far, the only thing that annoyed me was a huge number of various bugs and graphical glitches. (Like Polish Infantry Riflemen, starting on horse, without rifle, and without ability to upgrade their ranged weapon.)

Has a compulsive editing and re-editing disorder.Hey guys, hey, hey, hey.
Women.
I JUST WANTED TO GO INTO SPAAACE!!!It does bother me, Calradia has explicitly the same plausibility of a woman leading an army as Wfa S's 17th century Earthish (In-fact, when you have gunpowder, Calradia is more unlikely to have a female leader), so it's a removed feature in my book, which is bad.
My first impression (on singleplayer):
The customization process is simpler, and for Single-player mode, no females (although you can do that in multiplayer). Can't really choose your factions either, as you start off at the same place no matter what (somewhat* story-driven unlike previous installments).
I still prefer Warband overall, but it's not bad.
