Sign up thread

Anyway, the sign up thread derailed into a discussion about ?????'s character which I suggest we continue in here.

I think we're approaching this the wrong way. This character sounds far too broken. I suggest nerfing I'm willing to listen to any suggestions. But the smartass who comes up with no nerfing better have a good argument.

Okay, the basic concept was:

  • Ordinary guy who hits back just as hard as he gets hit.
  • To allow this, he can also create retaliatory projectiles and a blade sheath around his battle stave out of thin air.
  • Technically, he doesn't need to take the first hit full force, he can block it with his stave and it still counts.
  • His counters act on automatic, with no concious control from him. This means they work even if he's already been knocked out by the initial blow.

OK.

So, for example, if a speedster comes quickly and hits him and then runs away...would he be able to retaliate?

He'd be compelled to run after. He probably wouldn't catch up though.

The compulsion would probably weaken over time. But assuming nothing else happens he would need to return the "favor" if he ever got the chance. Big assumption though.

Oh, so he's like Sebastian Shaw, then?

Except he doesn't control his punches?

Something like that. Also, each bit of stored energy is one use only.

What about if he, say, touches a hot stoveplate? Would he automatically lash out against it?

Actually, the thought of having my character registered would be interesting. Maybe he works part-time at the government, only for the power release. But what if he decides to become a vigilante at night? Would that be too much?

I think the government would soon notice that a vigilante with his exact powerset was running around every night he disappeared.

No, that wouldn't count as an "attack".

How can it tell the difference?

The difference would be that Zach initiated the contact.

Another note: his force constructs have the same shape as the initial attack, but not the substance. A copied fireball would hurt, but not cause burns. And a copied dart wouldn't inject anything.

And if, say, a waitress spills a cup of hot coffee on him?

Maybe Percy starts out with only Super Strength, Speed, Jump, and Reflexes, being more like a cyborg than a superhero. And then near the beginning his laser beams manifests, but he hides them to prevent the military from using him even more.

But it might be a little unrealistic having him disappear every night or so, unless his mother has connections to the military, like knowing whoever is monitoring him, and taking them out for a drink. But it wouldn't work if the military is smart enough to have a lot of people watching the superheros at a time.

So, how much can I elaborate on Percy's mom? She'll be a recurring NPC.

I'll have to redo a few fields in his profile to match this.

Quick question of my own.

Am I correct in assuming that some of the heroes we've created have a higher "takedown priority" than others?

Not so far. We're gonna make it dynamic. If you become prominent, we will upgrade your Takedown Priority.

Okay. I was just thinking along the lines of they might be more more worried about some of them rather than others due to their powers.

You hadn't answered my questions yet.

And do the police have a way of firing fire long-range, because I doubt there are fire bullets.

Sorry. That's something I feel I can't answer without Cygan (I know, what a wuss. But it's my first time and I want this to be perfect)

And do the police have a way of firing fire long-range, because I doubt there are fire bullets.

this, however, I can answer. The police is ready for any kind of superhero of any kind. If a hero needs a flmaethrower to be taken down, a flamethrower will be deployed, used and abused on that hero till he's taken down.

Every takedown rec can and will be followed by the police. It's your objective to go around these methods and find a feasible way to survive.

[up][up]Yes there are. Incendiary rounds are available for some heavier rifles, and if that doesn't work it's time to break out the Dragonsbreath shotgun rounds.

Aww...It's just that flame-throwers can't fire at long-range, so if they try to get them out while Percy is high up, he could shoot some of them with ease and then flee.

Hmm...water?

No problem. The US answer is called the M202 FLASH, the Russian take on it is called the RPO-A Shmel.

Then again if the SWAT teams have to break out incendiary rocket launchers, something has seriously gone wrong. They'd probably use tame supers in a situation like that.

Also, Sabre...many thanks for those, will be using them without people noticing I mean, stop conspiring against your fellow players.

Well, then, Percy would have a slight advantage while they're trying to take out those rocket launchers.

More seriosuly, we would probably send some pro-reg heores as well as an squad. Depends on how the situation escalates.
