Interesting... and it makes sense in a way. They could make a new descendant entirely, or use Altair and already establish a connection between Desmond and said descendant from the get-go. Despite not knowing alot about Desmonds current situation, it would fit. My only concern is they'll have a repeat of Brotherhood in that people will want a new character instead of Altair, although there is a difference between using them for the sequel and using them again later.
"You lost, Dio. You lost for one simple reason - you were using charcoal." - Hank HillRemember, you did play as Altair briefly in AC 2.
And maybe you'll play as Altair and Ezio and Miles and Unknown Assassin X.
Jonah FalconWhoa, where's that villa in the Holy Land? Also, is this gonna be on Xbox? Looks like the console engine, not DS.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.^ Don't get excited, that's a screenshot from the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC for Brotherhood. Jonah doesn't check his sources.
Altair's story is over. Altair's chronicles covers his life before screed 1, bloodlines covers how he hooked up with maria and the codex pages in screed 2 covers his life as the master assassin up until his death. Returning to Altair would just be pointless not to mention there's no reason for Desmond to revisit his memories.
The yearly installments of screed is really bugging me now. Brotherhood was a great game but Ezio's part in the game storywise felt incredibly padded(Gameplaywise it was still pretty fresh and had some great stuff though I guess) And the lack of Desilet and other Screed Devs moving on to THQ has gotten me pretty worried for the franchise.
1459? Welcome to the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century, folks.

Jonah FalconYay? This is gonna be fun. Also, Jesper Kyd is gonna have a field day =)
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.You know what this means, right?
Damn. Back to an Arabic setting again.
And before anyone gets all prejudicial on my ass, I was merely traumatized by the borefest that was the first AC so much that I just don't see how I'll stomach another Arabic setting. The series got much better since then though, so we'll see.

^THIS. Holy crap, AC was boring as all get out; I only ever started to take a real interest in thing with the second, which I still haven't played.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Arabic? You mean Oriental, right? Turkey may be Muslim, but it's not Arabic. (Though, to make things most confusing, it's "Arabesque".
Jonah FalconNaaah, the Ottoman Empire is gonna be fun. The big question is who we're going to have Desmond possess this time out and how this will affect the story =)
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.^I honestly really don't even care about the story at this point, it's gotten laughably ridiculous yet still takes itself seriously.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!I wonder if you'll be able to climb one of Istanbul's towers... If there are any high towers in Istanbul.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Oh, yeah. There are. Taller than anything in the Crusades, fer Crissakes. :p
Jonah FalconOh sweet, this one sounds really interesting after all. Hopefully we can still get an Ezio dream sequence to find out who he ended up conceiving a child with in the end (catarina did seem to turn him away at the end).
Oh, awesome.
Bricks be fucking shat.
I guess we'll finally find out why he returns to Monteriggioni when he gets old, though. Didn't get brought up throughout all of Brotherhood.
EDIT: "Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this November". Ha ha, nice try Ubisoft. You won't get my hopes for a simultaneous launch up this time. Your console-to-PC port is gonna be unoptimized as fuck anyway.

This looks solid enough; though I still have to play through Brotherhood.
But yeah the story has gone totally wonkers; in a good way. It is like a Dan Brown novel that makes more sense and is much less offensive.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Not just Ezio!
Makes sense, because Ezio travels to uncover his roots. Altair will probably be playable in flashbacks or something.
I wonder how many games it will take to have Ezio as a full Assassin? To the point where we play as him, outside the Animus, for most of the game.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. This is the conclusion of a trilogy. No more Ezio.
Back to Altair?
