I didn't have that many verses. Blame Joel, not me!

But that's the thing. I only knew maybe two or three characters of this RP. I'd love to meet the rest, especially the Cents.

Bah. Whatever. You old bastards.

There'll always be Diplomacy.

Most people still don't fully understand the extent of my plotting in that last game. I don't think even I did.

I am speechless in the face of that song Rena. Truly a masterpiece.

Now we need a witty name for it.

Well, it was fun enough while it lasted. I can't help but feel my hesitation was the last nail in this game's coffin, not that I would feel too bad about that.

At any rate, i'll keep my eyes on the signup forums for the new game while biding my time with Faux's blog.

Enjoy your break faux.

Also, hire Rena to write the intro song for the next game

Guys,, I need to ask an extremely important question!

There are no hard feelings about the whole "Blowing up putt-putt" thing, right?

Because I'm afraid you never forgave me for that.

No hard feelings. I only like golf when I have telekinesis and an animatronic Andrew Ryan to throw the clubs at.

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

Good, that puts my mind at ease.

I have returned from my absence to say, I have no person issue, but Yasan is still reeling inwardly from that loss.

A final Epilogue, because of other shenanigans and because these were good times. Heavy spoilers and unused plot points will be leaked here because it's not going to be taken up again directly. Nothing written for the last entrant on both the Federation side as I never got a strong impression of his character arc due to a sudden ending.

Planned Canon [Stuff that was going to happen]

The Centauri Prussia would finish their skirmish to find both Rain Bernkerk and Robert Mc Kenna in the frames they were skirmishing against. Rain died due to an ejection malfunction, Mc Kenna attempted an escape before commiting suicide by capsule. On his person, there was a strange insignia which ressembled the Swiss Flag, under it was written, "Crux Alba in Mare Rubeum": A White Cross in A Red Sea.

The Federation assault on Kalm is remembered as a major success that forced the Centauri on the defence and secured their upperhand in the coming weeks. Once the elevator fell, most of the Centauri forces surrendered willingly and there was a brief chance to relax. Sadly, the officers arrived to find their prefered mini-putt destroyed and so shipment to the Highwind front was sooner than expected.

The Battle for Highwind was far more brutal. Under the command of Shang who was acting as one of the highest remaining command groups in the region, Highwind was a fortress and uphill assault for the Federation units, even once surrounded and cut off.

As supplies ran low, a two part operation was launched by the Cents, the first was a desperate Sortee to save what functional frames and crew they had, while some volunteered to remain behind and others who could not keep up were left. A narrow but costly escape is made, only to see Shang turn and step out of his Frame. He looks off towards the mountain and with a button, detonates explosives. In the resulting landslide, the entire Cent Garrison is slain as well as a substantial portion of the Federation's forces on the planet.

Outrage at this causes a new group to emerge calling themselves "White Cross" and several defect to their cause, including Charlot, Silver Company and even many Federation forces who survived, including Joan Freeman, Mike Conrad and Hermann Starbuck. They demanded an immediate ceasefire and for the right to self determination for all native populations, both Centauri, Federation and Neutral to ally with whom the pleased but to keep the planet as a Demilitarized Zone.

This soon evolved into a three way melee, with White Cross successfully crippling the Federation Orbital dominance through use of the Sephiroth stronghold on Aeris' Moon.

Speculative Plot [Summing up rather than new plotpoints]

The campaign was a long and costly one with little offensive action to be seized. The Federation and Centauri ironically participated in some joint operations against the White Cross, albeit begrudgingly. With the loss of the Sephiroth Moon base, the Organization collapsed into disarray and members were found and executed for treason and/or terrorist actions by their respective nations. Pockets remained with sympathizers and it remained something of a symbol for anti-war activists but more often was seen as an idealistic debacle. Most defectors were confirmed killed, or tried though Charlot and Freeman's wereabouts would not be uncovered for some time. This however, is a tale for a different time.

After Highwind and with the White Cross incidient, both forces had been substantial worn down. The Federation would eventually claim Midgar and begin the push into Centauri settlements and allied Warlords who had sided with the Centauri for autonomy. This would be countered with the arrival of the Centauri fleet, who would begin another push both reinforcing areas that were holding out against Federation beachheads and with a handful of their own strikes.

Both sides would soon find themselves well dug in and capable of withstanding orbital dominance from the other faction and in this condition continued what would turn into a long stalemate with long campaigns never quite achieving dominance.

Combat was interrupted by the success of ROZUM where both the Sol Federation and Centauri Confederacy would suffer serious, or arguably total, collapse. However, this was to be a relatively short pause as ethnic conflicts and old alliegances motived continued fighting and ethnic conflict on the planet until eventually order was restored and a ceasefire was drawn up.

Most player characters however would return form their tours of duty well before then.

Federation

  • Philip Sheridan dug deeper into the mystery behind the laptop, it belonged to a Centauri soldier, one whom had died on a campaign he had previously participated in. This stirred some internal sense of brotherhood which only became more acute with joint operations and interacting with prisonners. Phil still felt awkward in smaller interactions and had no small amount of guilt, but as he finished his tour he found himself sympathizing with White Cross' ideas. He would step into a religious and diplomatic role, hoping that a renewed sense of spirituality in both nations could heal the wounds of war and mark an era of universal fraternity.

  • Kiera Vulp learnt to work as a member of a team and began to put stock in her group. Her time with Yasan and the others would be a humbling experience with a certain discipline her previous scavenger group lacked. This helped push Kiera back into law where she took up a role as a defense attourney. She was known for her sympathy to clients and tenacity in their defence, if a lack of personability.

  • Calvin Summer, much to everyone's surprise, did have a brief fling with Vera. This motivated him during the collapse of the Federation to follow her White Cossacks rather than join with the supercorp whom his parents were subsidiaries for. During his period however, he left the White Cossacks due to an abrupt end in the relationship which he refuses to speak of [though he was visibly shaken by it]. After this, he sought out humble deskwork in Kaun Kang where he made a decent living after his Parent's megacompany was shut down. He made a name for himself in the partying community and eventually have 3 children, two boys and a girl, each from different marriages. Though his relationship history would remain rocky, he was always content, especially with his three children, in whom [perhaps worryingly] he saw a great deal of himself. By his death, Calvin theorized that he would soon be the Genghis Khan of space. This was untrue, but you don't take that from an old man.

  • Lilith Mac Donald would eventually go into Pyrotechnics and make a good living making things explode. Otherwise happy doing what she loves, she retains to this day a complicated set of feelings towards minigolf which often resulted in explosive anger. Somehow police in the region have no put two and two together and the miniputt arsonist remains at large.

  • Kara Cheslock would recieve her discharge a year late due to a clerical error. However during this extra year, Kara would meet her soul mate. The two would marry and adopt, however due to some complications from an injury Kara would pass away only ten years later. Her wife's final words to her were; "I'll always remember you, love."

  • Yasan Goebel finished his tour of duty and returned to his home, family and drinking friends in Midgar. He'd softed a little in his time leading his Flight, though he'd never admit it. He'd also always be haunted by a sense of nostalgia that he'd never get a group quite so dysfunctional to kick around. Nonetheless, with his connections and time in the war he did well for himself. Eventually, he opened a pub which the other five would return to on the odd occaisions they visited. Lilith eventually built up a tolerance and even won Yasan once in a drinking match and though he won on the rematch, she would never let him live it down. Some seven years after the dust had settled, the six would be together in the bar and a photo of them was taken together by Rena. Though Yasan would never admit it to them or explain it to others, it would sit in a place of honour on his wall. Even after his death his daughter would keep the photo there and smile on seeing her old Dad.

Centauri

  • Shang would be taken in to be tried for warcrimes, only to be sought out and pardoned by an influential noble and member of the Anti-Federation Coalition Party, Dame Ignis. Shang would eventually defect from the AFCP after realizing their connections to ROZUM and the resulting aftermath. He would die in a final operation to pass vital information to the Confederacy.

  • Jeanne Descartes would join the White Cross due to her sense of survivor's guilt and a hope to atoning. She recieved some modest success with the organization only to die in the defence of Sephiroth.

  • Jacques Descartes served his time and transfered quietly. He left his tour as soon as possible and returned to his family. He still returns to Aeris now and then, both as a solemn reminder of that dark time and to keep Jeanne's gave.

  • Gen Kwon knew the risks when he took to piloting Albatross, an unwieldy frame. His number came up at Highwind, where a stray missle hit his system as it charged to critical mass and critically damaged several frames in the area, both Cent and Federation.

  • Vinny Merlo had a taste of command amongst the misfit Noir Company company. Inspite of circumstances, he did well and Shang recognized his efforts. He would eventually be moved from the damaged Midgar Defence Corps to a Nibel unit. There, he proved very useful in uncovering certain elements of the White Cross conspiracy and recieved further recognition. He was eventually offered a low ranking position in the Praetorian guard. However after much consideration, he opted to remain with his Nibel company with whom he had grown quite attached. He would eventually return to Illion where he would publish a small detective series, which would remain obscure but garner enough success to [with his Knight's pension] pay for a comfortable, if humble, life.

  • Salvec Quewin would survive Highwind but leave Aeris rather scarred, both mentally and physically. He would later be arrested for sexual misconduct with a Centauri noble; a charge which he would deny for the rest of his life. After this he faded from the spotlight and opted to live a secluded life on his estate.

  • Morgan Vale was the only Cent who would go on to achieve much more with the military. She proved herself both ambitious and intelligent [as well as slightly more functional than many of her comrades]. She moved forward a request to transfer the Battalion from Shang and led them, along with a few other loose frames, alongside Corto. She would eventually be promoted to a Corps Captain and 4th Knight. She worked tirelessly to try and improve the conditions of the soldiers and pilots on Aeris and fight corruption, eventually testifying at Shang's trial. When she returned, she was notably more confident and content, though she still has never fully explained to anyone her reasons for originally joining.

  • Nikolai Zolnerowich would soon abandon many of his ambitions after experiencing the difficulties of Aeris. He remained with Vale who instilled a cautious sense of optimism in him even as his more idealistic conceptions of both the war and the Confederacy as a whole were torn asunder. When his duty was finished, he stayed friends with her but remained on Aeris to help rebuilding efforts, particularly with the Centauri in Nibel in whom he could see a glimpse of his lost homeland in Ascalon.

  • Over the course of the many battles and adventures that came about on Aeris, Ellen Daugherty would finish her tea, eventually.
