I mean, there's nothing wrong with delaying the start of G8 stuff if need be, is there?

Regarding the current arc, would there be time to do a miniplot involving Silent Hill elements? I'd just like to get something in before the next semester starts.

Zeal: Given arcs tend to last anywhere from ten months to a year at this point, there... probably would be. A lot of people would want to use the new region, mons, etc. That said if need be we could use the G8 region as the setting for the Rainbow Rocket arc and have them pursue... Something there. That way the Rainbow Rocket/J-Dan plot would be center stage while people still get to play with their new toys.

Channah: Sure, why not.

Alright. I don't know if I'm 100% set on it yet, but I'll talk about it more if and when it's finalized.

On one hand, yeah, arcs tend to be a fair bit longer now than they used to be. That said, this particular arc has had an astonishing boost in speed, and a lot has happened in the first two months, so it may be different — but it's so up-in-the-air that I think we should wait to find out anyway, and probably figure out a backup arc in case we want something in between.

I'm chill with this being a center-stage thing but there are some caveats I feel like are probably necessary to consider.

-I'd rather not delay G8 stuff. Particularly if there's a new region with new mons. Doing Pokemon journeys in new regions is fun. But that said there is likely a lot of time between now and whenever this would occur so it's probably best to see what comes up before making hard and fast calls on timing.

-I'm with Zealrax on this being center stage. That said, I think it's not a great idea for it to be more center-stage than, like, any given villain team has been? A lot of this plotline represents pretty intense stuff and while I'm excited for it, I think it's important to allow for breathing room, the same as has been done during most arcs with a clear central villain.

Essentially I'm with Umbra, in that G8 could easily serve as a good backdrop for J-Dan.

That said I do have a couple questions.

1) I get the sense of J-Dan as Knights Templar/Well-intentioned extremists in terms of suppressing other threats to society. Is that accurate or am I misinterpreting their mission?

2), What J-Dan's role in the OU would be. That is, is this being proposed as:

  • A weird twist in an otherwise standard boss rush, followed by a Conquest-esque sidearc detailing the clash between J-Dan and the Resistance in their home universe
  • A weird twist in an otherwise standard boss rush, followed by J-Dan attempting to carry out their mission in the OU and backed up by backstory posts explaining how the J-Dan timeline became the way it was
  • Something else entirely, I'm just being reductive

I'm inclined to hope it's something closer to the second, for maximum parsimony.

Dunsparce didn't stop being a thing or anything.

That all's pretty much what I imagined would be the case, yeah. As for your two questions:

1) They definitely are on the Well Intentioned Extremist/Knights Templar side of the moral spectrum, yeah.

2) The second one does sound like the most effective way of handling it

Couple questions:

1. When will this be? Is our current arc finished?

2. Will we be going into the Danverse, or will they be coming here?

Another green world.

Still got to take care of Mobius before the Entralink arc is finished IIRC. Though I imagine we'd want the sky to be broken while things are set up.

Anyway, awake and less distracted now, so yeah. My first thought was that we'd have to strike out involvment of more than half of the current players if we were sticking to Orre players for the Danverse char, but I guess In Spite of a Nail and knights Templar J-dan instead of full edgelord J-dan takes care of most of the sleep deprived concern I had.

Dogs: This current arc is just getting started. It's also... just managed to cram a lot of stuff in at once compared to past arcs. What Blitz said for resolving it, kind of, but depending on weither it's contemporaneous with G8 shenanigans the Rainbow Rocket/J-Dan arc probably won't happen until late 2018/early 2019. Also if you check the past few posts you'll see which we're leaning re: them coming to us vs. us coming to them.

Also! On an unrelated note: three, yes, three new NP Cs, one of which I couldn't reveal until the spoilerblock lifted!

I might be worried about G8 or USUM integration if I had, well, any idea what were involved with those. But Pokemon news really hasn't been on my radar much ^-^;

Also chars look potentially interesting~

Ammy's case is not quite an EX Branding so much as an effective demigod(ess) status induced from being a Physical God for an extended period of time, so she's honestly more like Mew!Blitz (which reminds me they need to meet.)

I'd probably be up for that sometime! While Mew!Blitz has gotten pretty used to the whole shapeshifting and being technically not human thing, the immortality has been a bigger pill to swallow, particularly in regards to figuring out what that does to his (lack of) life goals and formerly mortal to mortal relationships. He could use all the insight he can get =p

Hmm, I was wondering how our already frequent use of other dimensions would be expanded upon with USUM offering even more ways of travelling through dimensions and all that, not to mention how the main series has been giving more focus to alternate world with each new generation since Gen V, it seems.

While I'm not really involved with the RP anymore, I find the idea interesting, although it does lead me to wonder about what happened to my characters' counterparts in that world. Considering how RP!DS doesn't really like in-fighting within the team, maybe she went off on her own instead of choosing a side?

... And two I'm imagining RP!DS and Linnéa/Ray getting dragged into things when this version of DS approaches them and asks for their help. (If I did get in on this, maybe I could also finally give her character arc a proper conclusion... then again, since I've tried a few times and failed, that probably won't happen... tongue)

More thoughts: I wonder what became of Lillith in this other world. Did she still decide to go the path of making Orre a better place by joining the police force, or could she have been dragged into the fight on one of the two sides?

Also, what has that world been like to live in for people not involved with the J-Team ever since the events that caused it to diverge from the events of the OU? And what about former members of the J-Team who just want to stay out of this and live normal lives?

Is this world connected to the OU, as in, did the AU arc happen in this world?

Anyone got any thoughts on these?

The timeline split would be at Orre, so...I don't know about the Return arc, but the first one should've happened.

As for the former, there'd likely be a way.

So, Pippi and I were bandying about a few ideas for ancestor characters, and hit upon a way to excuse them being around in the present day: what if vampires?

Vampires? In my WAAPT?

We've had weremons for years now, so it's more likely than you would think. Plus we've already had Literal Dawnguard Vampires, so there's precedent.

Vampirism in WAAPT would be heavily inspired by Jo Jo and the Fate series, alongside classic aspects of vampiric lore. However, as straight vampirism would clash with the setting we've tinkered and toyed with the concept a bit to be more congruent with the setting of WAAPT.

OK, You got me interested now. So how do they work?

Glad you asked! First of all, WAAPTpires wouldn't be '"bloodsuckers" per se, in fact, a more apt term would be "Aura Drainers" or "Soul Suckers", as they actually drain the Aura from a given person as their prime form of sustinence. They're more just regular Aurics/Obscurics who've drained so many people they now can't survive without it.

Of course, this also means they absorb the small amounts of Infinite Energy present in human beings. Which is primarily the reason they can keep alive for so long in a youthful and restorative state, but also the reason why they must hunt so much because they have to be able to keep up a steady supply to stay alive.

Tidbits about WAAPT Vamps and what their powers would be like include:

  • Powers that wax and wane with the moon. (Similar to how lycanthropes are influenced by the Moon, but distinct in their own right.)
  • As highly powerful Aurics/Obscurics, those with Obscura have a form of Icescura that induces Flash Freezing.
  • Ability to "drink"/"absorb" Aura with their fingers.
  • Weakened in sunlight (rather than killed outright)
  • Typical vamp powers, i.e. enhanced strength, heightened agility, heightened senses, regeneration etc. Nothing too extreme, probably something on the level of a strong Auric/Obscuric - they still need to rely on mons like everyone else. (Even vampires in this verse are less efficient in battle than Pokemon are)
  • Immortality vis a vis draining Infinite Energy along with the Aura of their victims. (As mentioned above. Infinite Energy has already been shown to have restorative properties IRP with Lex's Life Extender, but it also leads to a dependency on IE to survive - the classic vampiric thirst)
  • Bishie sparkles for dramatic effect while Jojoposing.
  • Vampiric charm and charisma. They're just very pretty and very gay.

Furthermore, if an Aura-capable individual survives being drained, they may end up succumbing to the thirst to replenish their life, and the cycle begins anew...

So there you have it. Poke-vampires. Yea or nay? Any other thoughts/ideas/comments?

I'm relatively cool with this, don't like the thralls or literal bloodsucking and would rather have the infectiousness be limiited. I do support the sparkles. o3o

Also support locking vampire Pokeforms to "batmon" as a tell.

Really, to quote Bitters from the chat, "as long as it's a logical extension of already existing concepts, it's cool, but going an extra mile is a bit much"

I mean, we've had aura drain a few times IRP already.

Unsure of thoughts yet, but don't think I'm opposed atm, just as long as there's effective communication between players as far as how the 'thrall' thing goes. (Not sure how to word, but might suggest it's more of some amount of sudden implanted 'loyalty' to their sire than 'compelled to obey' ?)

I'm cool with powers waxing/waning with the moon, being weakened by sunlight, weakened by sunlight, and absorbing aura with their fingers.

I'd admittedly rather not do just batmons as a tell for them, though. (Unless of course, if the vampire ends up gravitating to being more like a batmon when they attain Pokeform.)

Though, on the charisma end, while there was pushback on the thralls thing, I think with the Black Chalice we could definitelty have precedent for swaying people to their side easily being a part of Obscurastuff maybe.
