You're playing a game in either first or third person with free camera control. Do you invert your Y-axis?

(wait what)

Just a basic poll.

On consoles, yes. On PC of course not.

No. I play the normal way...

I honestly dont see the point :(, but hey, as long as it is optional, ok.

Yes, as I'm pretty sure that was the default configuration in Goldeneye, and my brother had a lot of flight games and, well, that's how you fly. I am absolutely terrible in "Normal" configuration because I consider the inversion to be "normal."

For shooters, I play with standard camera control.

For third-person games that aren't shooters, I invert the x and y axes (unless I'm playing on PC)

Yes, always. Ever since I played Microsoft Flight Simulator around 10 years ago when this was the default (and it was impossible to take off without realizing this), I can't play any other way. (Although for a while third person games did not count in what I'd invert, one day I was playing Psychonauts and the "normal" control scheme just felt... wrong.

EDIT: Huh. No page for Microsoft Flight Simulator. And to think that it's an entire series.

Sometimes with console games. Depends on my mood.

I NEVER invert ANYTHING... Well, sometimes for flight sims. But i literally couldn't play Final Fantasy XII because of the inverted camera. I couldn't do anything.

I like games that subtly make you choose which camera type you use at the beginning of the game with simple "Look over here" questions. Halo 3 and Psychonauts did it.

I prefer it to be the "normal" way, despite my first 1st person game being Wing Commander on the SNES.

I invert. When you hand me a stick, my mental image is of "pushing" on the crosshair/camera, rather than directly controlling it.

In flight sims, I do. Otherwise, I don't. Descent counts as a flight sim.

I cant use inverted Y-axis configuration. If I'm aiming a crosshairs at someone I expect it to move up when I push up, not the ass-backwards way around. It works in flight sims, but otherwise, its really annoying.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...

I'll invert most things, and definitely any flight simulator. You don't push the stick down, you pull it backward to pitch your plane up. I can't think of it any other way.

I definitely do with an analogue stick. I honestly couldn't tell you off the top of my head whether or not I do with a mouse.

I play the normal way because it's too confusing to invert it.

As long as it controls the camera I invert the Y-axis but otherwise no. I never invert the X-axis. As someone mention I think of it like airplane movements.

Not inverting the X-axis makes sense in airplane movements too, because that's banking to the side rather than yawing. I'm not sure why anyone would invert X.

I go with what feels natural. Sometime in one game it feels like invert'd Y-axis is better, while in other it just feels wrong. Sometime it even change while playing one game.

I always invert the Y-Axis. I played mostly flight simulators when I first started gaming and now nothing else feels right.

I always invert the y-axis for camera purposes, but never for shooters. The X-axis is...usually kept as is. Unless I feel stupid and forget if it's supposed to be inverted or not.

Only for flying things do I ever invert it, and only on joysticks.
