Even knowing it was coming that moment when the seneschal is your former arisen just fucking rocks. And man my gear sucked. Was that a recluse robe? And I'm still wearing that fucking tiara?!

Daimon runs ran into a bit of a snag in the form of not having a whole lot of rift crystals so I decided to run through the campaign again to turn in all the from a different sky quests. That's gotta be a few hundred thousand RC right there. Which, with my luck, means I'll get to purify fourteen more grave veils! Seriously, the fuck is with tier 3 headgear? I've got like four pieces of of not head gear and ten different helmets and veils kicking around. Not even the rare versions either!

Come to think of it if you ignore all the side content you can beat the game in what? A half hour? The world record is 16 minutes on the in-game clock and like half of that is kicking that fucking ox all the way to gran soren. I could totally grab all 100 badges, beat the game and then just turn them in like 3 times for like a brazillion RC.

EDIT: on second thought it would probably be quicker to just kick daimons butt and grab 3 perfect rift crystals each time. Once we factor in having to re-run BBI.

Short pants. I want the shorts but I don't like the leg-belts or the foot wraps, so I tried to erase the textures.

Me: "It's harder than you might think." Me, five minutes later: "It's easier than you might think!"

So, I did a thing, for the sake of Fashion Dogma. I recommend doing things, it's good.

So, I got this game over the holidays, and managed to get through a bit of a mage and a fighter's run, up to getting to Gran Soren. Until I had to head back home and lose everything.

So this time, I chose Strider as my vocation. I just arrived at Gran Soren. Now, I was grinding a bit, so I already have skills like Dazzle Hold, Reset, and I'm nearing level 15.

Advanced Trigger and Full Bend are my go-to attacks at the moment. But how useful are the following skills?

  • Reset

  • Dazzle Hold

  • Ensnare

  • Helm Breaker

  • Sprint

  • Pilfer

Also, I went to some Watergod place behind a waterfall. Full Bend was nigh essential to beat those saurians. Aim for the head, knock them over, rinse and repeat for about maybe half an hour to do meaningful damage. Was I not supposed to go there yet?

I haven't used most of those skills, but I can say that reset is good. It allows you to cancel hitstun, which means you can then escape from combos. As for the Temple of the Water God, there's no reason that you shouldn't be ready it. Are you cutting off the saurians' tails to weaken them first?

Well, no. I camped at the ladder down into their lair. They normally never went past a certain point. So, I lure them into sight, Full Bend, aim for the head, get as many Full Bend shots in as possible, stamina recharge, rinse, repeat.

I did beat them eventually. Patience is a virtue.grin

Anyways, I'm a Ranger now. It's not that big a blow when I lose Cloudburst Volley and Threefold Arrow in exchange for Dire Arrow, which is basically a more powerful Full Bend. Shame you can't move while charging though. But at least I get to keep my dagger skills.

Also, Dazzle Hold and then Reset means I can make the most of the stun without recoil myself.

Grab saurians while they down, it massively increases their damage taken and holds them down for several seconds.

To answer your earlier question: helm splitter is an insanely good skill. Combine it with the augment that increases jump damage and you can can clean up mooks rather effortlessly.

The real crowning jewel of the ranger is the tenfold fury ability. Combine it with blast arrows and 4x conquerers peripats (or however you spell it) from fournival and you have an emergency "oh fuck" instant win button.

Alright, took down a Chimera, Cyclops, the entire bandit fortress near the pawn Enlistment Corps encampment and cleaned out the Altar of the Watergod! Well, the ghost in the Altar managed to take down my one support pawn though.

All with naught but a Sylvan Bow and a pair of Stilettos. Seriously, the bandits outside the fortress posed a bigger threat than the entire fortress. Talk about Conservation of Ninjutsu...

In other news, I've also just maxed out my Strider Vocation Rank. I switched back to it to get the skill that makes me one weight class lighter. Ranger, here we come!

I'm currently using Instant Reset, Helm Splitter and Pilfer. Bandits cam be Pilfered for really great healing items, and since I have a Fighter, I just wait for them to grab hold and then rob 'em blind.

Forget Advanced Trigger, I'm cutting through enemies like a hot knife through butter with Helm Splitter. Saurian tails beware!

My current team of Strider/Mage/Fighter/Warrior works pretty well. I'll have to get Fighter and Warrior pawns around my level now, since they're still level 17 while I'm reaching level 25...

Okay, so apparently, my next main quest mission is "GO KILL THAT DRAGON, JEEZ, STOP CLOWNING AROUND", so obviously I decided to clown around. Became a magic archer (first time I actually pick a range class), made a few sidequests, especially those medallion things scattered all over the place, which you get on the noticeboard in the Pawns' Guild's basement (how many of them are there anyway ? I'm up to 42 !)... But the funny thing is, for some reason, everything about Selene and the Witchwood never showed up. I never got that sidequest where I have to save her from a mob which gets interrupted by a golem. Weird.

Anyway, I'm running out of things to do, so I'll switch back to Mystic Knight and go kill the dragon, I guess. Never been that far before.

Fairly certain you have to save quina during Lost and found right near the start of the game for witch hunt to start then you have to either overhear talk of it during stage 4 or just go to her hut. I kinda forgot to do lost and found on my faff about run and then found out I am missing exactly one badge of vows; guess where? [lol]

Alright, time to fight the dragon ! Annnnnnd my betrothed is... Aelinore !? But I maxed my affinity with... Oh, right, I forgot to do that quest for getting her out of Gransys. Crap.

Hey, at least it's not Fournival or *shudders* Feste !

Okay, so the dragon is dead, so everything will be fine, right ?

- half of Gran Soren gets destroyed by an earthquake, thousands of harpies and drakes comes out of the chasm, and the Arisen is framed for the whole thing -

... Yeah, that's what you get for trying to save the world. I'm beginning to think those crazy cultists weren't as crazy as I thought.

... Does it count as double posting when your last post is three months old ?

Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys something before I add something on the game's page.

See, as I FINALLY reached level 100, I decided to start tackling Bitterblack Isle. And, to my great surprise, one of the loading tips reads "I put my feet wherever I want, Little John, and it's very often in other people's faces".

That's a line from the french dub of a Chuck Norris movie which gained memetic status in the french online community. (if you're interested, that's a reply to said Little John telling Chuck Norris "don't put your feet in the dish !", which itself is an old french expression about not meddling about things one isn't concerned at all) That... was really unexpected. I guess the guys working on the french version wanted to have some fun.

So here's my question : are there similar things in other versions of the game ? Or is it just exclusive to the french one ?

It'll sound dumb, but I have the game on an SSD so the loading was done so fast I couldn't read the loading text unless I payed attention, and even then.

Can't recall anything of the like tho.

[up]Don't run around at night if can you help it. Place Warp Stones at towns and key locations (I think Dark Arrison gave out like 4 of them so place at hard to reach locations). Unless you are using a Guide you will miss a lot of side quests because a lot of them are Guide dang it. If you become a mage at least have 1 pawn that's an archer. And that's all I'll say.

I've had the PC version of Dark Arisen for a while, but only recently completed it. Starting Hard Mode right now to get the Duke's armor set.

Also managed to beat the offline version of the Bonus Boss. I don't think I'm powerful enough to do significantly well against the online version yet, but I'll get there eventually. In the meantime, I'll continue fighting the offline version for the holy weapons it drops. Also debating whether to try Bitterblack Isle before or after managing to beat the online Bonus Boss.

On a sidenote, getting griffins and wyverns to come down and fight is really annoying. However, once they do come down to engage, they're a hell of a lot of fun to fight.

I really wish there was an english version of Dragon's Dogma online. I know that you can patch the PC version, but I don't have a PC powerful enough to play it yet.

I did play it on PS 4 though. It feels more streamlined, maybe a bit shallower than the main game, but I think it's good fun and you can finally coordinate with real humans.

Also, what do you guys think of the combat against smaller, humanoid enemies? There are a lot of cool moves for the non-magic classes, but once you hit high enough level most things will die in one hit, so you can't do a lot of combos.

Well, I just had the funniest and luckiest online Ur-Dragon defeat ever.

I went down to the Chamber of Lament hoping that the Ur-Dragon would be at low health. The Ur-Dragon had one exposed heart on its feet, so I thought I'd start there. One smack, and the online Ur-Dragon went down.

Cue me staring at the computer screen for a few seconds trying to process what just happened, then laughing since I hadn't expected to kill the online Ur-Dragon for a bit.

Whelp, now all I need to do is kill the Dragon in Hard Mode to complete the Abyssinal Armor set.

My first two hours of the game so far:

I went thru the opening sequence, then proceeded to take 20 minutes to create my character, then spent the next hour or so talking to people in the village and picking up random crap everywhere. Also, I got Rook, my first Pawn, and managed to complete the healing herbs sidequest.
