Sounds good to me.
Fight smart, not fair.So does this mean we can start cleaning this page up?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I don't see many entries that are outright complaining. Yes, they are arguable, and someone could take offense at them, but that's why it's a YMMV page, and not a trope. It isn't particularly worse than any other YMMV page.
Well, I wouldn't have any complaints if the examples were limited to those confirmed by Word of God.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. The page in my opinion looks like a negative version of And The Fandom Rejoiced.
Yes, and Ruined FOREVER is supposed to be the negative version of And The Fandom Rejoiced.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Strictly speaking, that's not the same thing. Ruined Forever is usually a change that the fans didn't want. Pandering to the Base is giving the fans exactly what they want, to the point that it's hollow.
In other words:
Ruined Forever is the Evil Counterpart of And The Fandom Rejoiced; (They are the anti-thesis one-another.)
Pandering to the Base is the Superpowered Evil Side; (Same trope, different mindset.)

A lot of them really don't make that much sense as they are just random opinions on the way things progress unless its Word of God. (
Like the Negima example which could be more "I was planning to do that all along" type of thing since all the signs were there from the word go.
Now Ken Akamatsu's Word of God responses to character polls on who should get more or less screen time would be an example of this. (not that it doesn't take 2-3 years to see more face time for some of them)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I really do think Pandering to the Base should be an objective concept, since many "Gods" admit to it. And even if Word of God admits it, there are barely even any examples discussing how the creator really was Pandering to the Base.
I mean, there isn't an example detailing how Eiji Aonuma wanted The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess to have a realistic art style to appeal to Western fans. I would add it, but it doesn't fit in with the opinionated spirit of the article.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Well, if it were objective, I'd say that it should be Trivia then. But, unfortunately, tropers have issues with allowing a trope that could be used for bashing to go unused for bashing.
Fight smart, not fair. Can you give me an example of how that has caused trouble before? I'm just curious.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I'll give one example: Wall Banger.
Objectively speaking, the trope describe a particular moment in a given work that makes one wants to take a migraine pill due to its sheer "stupidity". Now, because what constitutes "stupidity" varies from person to person and - since it's all about stupid moments in fiction - it's generally a "negative" trope, tropers have flanderized it to where anyone could just post some moment in fiction that they hate. I do believe that's why it's on the Darth Wiki now: tropers just can't stop bashing things they don't like.

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Author Tract and Author Filibuster and similar tropes are likely to find their way into that setup as well. I don't think I've read too many that weren't some reader getting butthurt over a view the author holds.
Fight smart, not fair.Wall Banger is a subjective concept, objectively speaking or not, just because "stupidity" is part of the definition.
Pandering to the Base really should lose the YMMV banner just because Word of God admits it all the time. Also, I don't really see Pandering to the Base being used to complain on other pages, just on this page, so making it Trivia would be an easy thing to do.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Necro bump!
So... was on the Fanservice page today and it says
Way off the current description. But Seems tropeable.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!
I'm quite upset that this trope page is now being used for complaining about works.
I want this trope to become Trivia and limit this to examples admitted by Word of God.
