All Purpose Puella Madoka Fanfiction Thread: ![]() Hello.
All of this witching out really depends on whether or not you want to set the fic pre- or during MDKH.
Yes, they'd be dead, but they won't be witches , i.e. trapped-in-endless-ironic/symbolic-hell.

Then the TSAB see that the Incubators are committing crimes and allow Fate to blow away every single Incubator.
Though the Incubators corrupt Fate's Bardiche into a Soul Gem, then taunt her to have her succumb to despair and be a Witch.
"So yeah, I wish I could kill a kitten like Kaworu did."

Contract
"... Make a Contract with you and become a Magical Girl, huh?" Koyomi pondered, with a finger posed on her chin. Then she gestured down at herself. "I actually only have a wish in life. Could you make it so I stop being fat?"
The small white creature looked up and down Koyomi's body, and then its voice rang in her head again.
Sorry! That's impossible for us. I apologize over wasting your time and ours, then.
And it turned around and left.
Koyomi fell to her knees, with foggy glasses and her spirit trying to flow out of her mouth.
In truth, it only had been that making her stop being fat was a complete impossibility since she wasn't fat in the first place, but all the same, had Kyubey known she'd accumulate that much despair so quickly, he'd have tried to make the contract anyway...

Psyga: at which point Caro and Erio snap her out of it with a heartwarming Rousing Speech, while Subaru goes on to prove why victory goes... TO THE ONES WHO HAVE COURAGE!!!! In a Back-to-Back Badasses moment with Ginga! Cue HEEELL... AAAAAAND.... HEAVEEEEN!!!
Nevermind that the Wolk and co. are going to be pretty pissed that the Incubators are screwing with their pals, and Hayate is evidently even more powerful than Nanoha.

... And I'll call him George
So? What would your wish be?
Sakaki's cheeks flared a lovely red shade, and she scooted Kyubey up in her hands.
"Does your fur trigger allergies?" she asked.
Well, it never has. As a matter of fact, no one who is not sensitive to magic can see, hear or smell me. A pause. I don't believe they can taste me either, although to be honest, I have never tried to elucidate on that subject.
Sakaki nodded, tucked him under an arm, and walked away with him. "Then I already have my wish granted."
Um, Sakaki-san, I really should be attending to other matters elsewhere, if you aren't going to accept the contract offer...
"... I'll make you a pretty little bed, unless you want to sleep with me. I also could sew little clothes for you, if you'd like, " Sakaki mused softly, with a distant smile.
Sakaki-san, I have duties to fulfill on a daily basis. I shouldn't become a simple housepet...
"... Would you prefer wearing pink or blue? Also, will you prefer taking a hot bath with me when we get home, or would you like a cold shower instead? It's a hot day..."
Really, Sakaki-san, the Puella Magi have need for my—
"— and then I could sing you a few lullabies. It'd be like caring for a baby, but much less problematic..."
Kyubey ran away as soon as he could. Sure, he could have tricked her into wishing for another pet, but he had solid reasons to believe she wouldn't settle for anything but him from then on...
Even Incubation has Standards
"Really? ANYTHING I might wish for?-!" Tomo's suddenly HUGE eyes sparkled wildly, as her fists balled up under her chin.
Kyubey studied her expression carefully for a moment before turning away.
My apologies. But I suspect your wish would trigger a chain reaction that would end up destroying the same universe we are attempting to save from Entropy.
"DAMN! The same stupid excuse that stupid Genie gave!"

... I'm not sure I want to know what Tomo might have wished for, if Kyubey himself thinks that it's too risky/destructive to grant it to her.
And by "Genie", do you mean that Genie?

![]() Hello.
I'm sure that the Incubators could spare a body for Sakaki. Although, they might see it as a waste of resources. And they probably won't care about someone who won't make a wish. A shame, as she's probably one of the few on this planet who won't be creeped out by their endless stare.

OBJECTION! You left Fate to die alone without her wife and child. You Bastard.
Don't worry, I'll fix it. Miracles and magic do exist, you know!
"Y-you mean I could bring them back?" A glimmer of desperate hope appeared in Fate's tear-streaked, hollow eyes.
The creature before her remained impassive as ever. "Normally, such a miracle might not be possible, but your potential is exceptional, Fate Testarossa." The Incubator tilted its head. "If you make a contract with me, your wish can definitely be granted."
She didn't even hesitate. "Then I'll do it. Please, Kyubey, bring back Na—" Fate stopped, choking back a sob, before a look of calm resolve passed over her. "I wish that Nanoha and Vivio were still alive! Grant my wish, Kyubey!"
*
Nanoha Takamachi slowly opened her eyes, staring hazily up at the sky. "Where... what happened to..." she mumbled. Her memories were vague; she couldn't make sense of what had happened. Think, Nanoha... I was fighting something... a witch. I fought a witch. We were fighting a witch, and Vivio was— She shot upright in a panic. "VIVIO!" Vivio was there, sleeping peacefully on the ground next to her. She was safe and unharmed. Vivio was safe, and she hadn't turned into... Nanoha shuddered, recalling in full the horror that had befallen her daughter. Then how did I... Her thoughts were cut short by a warm body tackling her and wrapping her in a tight embrace. "Nanoha! I'm so glad! I... I thought..." Fate sobbed into her shoulder. "Fate?" Nanoha just sat there, confused. "What happened? Wasn't I, well..." She finally looked at Fate. At Fate, and at the Incubator standing behind her, watching expressionlessly. "No..." she gasped. Her blood ran cold as she realized what Fate had done. "Fate, why?" How efficient, the Incubator thought to itself. edited 15th Jul '12 2:11:08 PM by Enthryn Prendre le bien, le mal et sans trier, accepter Sans couvrir tes yeux, tout regarder. ![]() Hello.
I think we may have to be careful when involving souls of the deceased in wishes. That seems to be one of the few things that magic can't do much about, though I suppose a powerful enough Magic candidate might be able to do stuff with them. I guess that in the show, it's commonly assumed that the dead are beyond any sort of contact and that it would be kind of disrespectful to pull them out of a possible afterlife, save for undoing the event that did them in through time alteration.

![]() Prendre le bien, le mal et sans trier, accepter Sans couvrir tes yeux, tout regarder. ![]() Hello.
It's possible that she might. What I'm thinking is that this kind of thing could be really complex. Wishing for a grief seed to turn back into a Soul Gem should be possible, since her soul is still in the mortal plane (mangled by despair, but still present). It might take another wish to make Soul Gem turn back into a regular soul. Wishing Nanoha back to life... might be possible. She could wish that both of them would be living humans again, and there would be no Literal Genieing since Kyubey doesn't play that card and that's just not how it works, though I think that may require a clearer mindset. Madoka took more than a few moments to come up with her universe-buster, and she didn't do it immediately after someone died. Considering what Fate's been through, she should be able to maintain a bit more composure than Madoka, but I think it would still be best if the wish was made after she's gotten herself together a bit. Wishes made in immediate panic and distress have been shown to have bad outcomes.
In general, I think the show may have the implication that souls stop being part of the universe (as a whole, timelines and all) after death, and that as limitless as magic can be, there are still a miniscule number of things that it cannot do, though that just may be because of the way that the Incubators accessed magic.

If Fate wished that she could go back to before Vivio and Nanoha died, that would be consistent with the way time travel but not resurrection has been shown to be within the wish's capabilities.

If Madoka had wished for all Puella Magi who ever were killed to be revived, then, what would happen?

It probably is just thinking that it's somehow wrong though. Japan may not be the most religious country in the world, but the old tales still get around. edited 15th Jul '12 7:23:28 PM by Ikiniks I reserve the choice to not be COHERENT!

Quick question - why do so many people use the term "Puella Magi" when, in-universe, I have only ever heard anyone use "Magical Girl" (or in the sub, "Maho Shojo")? Is it some fandom quirk I'm just not picking up on?
