It's pretty fun, but the scale isn't quite as large as the original, and artillery wins every fight forever. It does run a bit better than the original though, and the newfound simplicity might be a welcome change depending on if you played the first one or not.
I bought the first one. Tried to get into it, but I just can't seem to pick up on how to properly set up the economy. which brings up another point: it's like the game is more of an economic balance/logistics simulator at heart, not a war game.

That's part of the reason the second one downplays the economic aspect.
That's how a lot of RTS games are built. I haven't installed the second one yet, as I need to clean off my drive a bit as I'm getting close to my "too much shit" ratio.
Fight smart, not fair.Okay, I played my first matches this week. I really like this game. I like pretty much all of the improvements so far. Self repairing, the upgrade system, the smaller unit amount and my god, the experimental units. They are wondrous! I'm liking the normal humans humanoid one the most.
Fight smart, not fair.Necro, but I am kinda surprised that Supreme Commander 2's Infinity War Battle Pack DLC, with all its units and rebalancing, could have been an Expansion Pack complete with a new set of campaign missions. First up would be the title for the Cybran part of what I think would be the hypothetical expansion's Campaign: Roots of Rebellion. Playing as Ivan Brackman, the enemy commanders you face would be the remnants of Colonel Alex Rodgers' forces who are still fighting on Altair II.
Mission 1: Firefighting. This mission is set at the wrecked remains of the Coalition Command Center and involves preventing the enemy Armored Command Unit from escaping the map through the southwest while destroying the enemy base. The player starts in the northeast with a lot of mass deposits available while the enemy UEF commander starts in the center of the map.
Starting forces: Each commander starts with their ACU, but Commander Hall starts with a lot of AA towers in his base while you start with two engineers and a fleet of ten Renegade Gunships.
Objective 1: Defeat Commander Hall. Description: Preston Hall was sent here to rebuild the Coalition Command Center, but intelligence has discovered that he intends to instead use the ruins as a staging point for further attacks against the Illuminate. Take him out to end his plans. Completing this objective finishes the mission.
Objective 2: Do not let Commander Hall escape. Description: Commander Hall intends to escape and return with reinforcements. Block his escape route. Completing this objective finishes the mission.
Objective 3: Research Technology. Description: Use the Research Interface to complete the following technologies: Air Scout. Completing this objective unlocks the Intellitorn Air Scout.

Did a search, couldn't find a thread so I thought I'd start one.
Just got it today because I found it in my price range. Haven't installed it yet, planning to do it tomorrow.
