It's weird. Been playing Civ since the big golden edition of Civ II. III was probably the one I spent the most time with. IV was a major improvement aside from eating my processing power. I can't get into V at all, seems just alien to me for some reason, barely made it to the feudal age. Main thing is, drawing a blank on which features came/went fom which game. Were religions in III or IV? Was spying removed in IV or V?

I may be burned out on the basic Civ experience. Maybe we need an Alpha Centauri II more than Civ VI. Or maybe tackle fantasy. I won't see we need to revert to an older model then V, but something with it doesn't sit well with me.

Religion was introduced in IV. And there is a fantasy version of Civ. Kind of.
A fistful of me.

Master of Magic is tragically ancient. Age of Wonders never really got the love it deserved. Still, a Civ game with a fantastic setting may be interesting, especially in Firaxis' hands.

Though, I guess we can be thankful that Civ is still turn based.

Your argument is invalid
Religion was added I think in IV, taken out of V, then put back in Gn K. Same deal with spying, I think.

Outta curiosity, did you try V again when Gn K came out?

Y'know, it feels like - beyond realism - the main reason that Religion was introduced in IV was so that the player would be guaranteed to have at least one war / mortal enemy during their playthrough.

I haven't. Already spent $20 on a game I don't play so I was reluctant to do so.

Actually, thinking about it, I am really getting my knowledge of the series confused. I should probably hit V again and this time act like I'm a newb and relearn everything.

Of course, it doesn't help that it refuses to run on Direct X 11 unlike my other games.

Do pick up Gods and Kings. It really fixes most of the problems Civ V has.

Some guy.
Considering how few I've played, this should be easy.

1. Civ 5 (With Gods and Kings).

2. Civ 4.

3. Civ 5 (Base).

Dunno if I'll attempt the expansion. Last patch seemed to add a ton of common bugs including the Direct X 11 issue and bombardment causing crashes.

I've played all of the mainline Civ games up through 4, Colonization, Alpha Centauri, and both CTP games. 4X games have always been something of a passion of mine.

[up] x6: Espionage has always been a little finicky in the series anyway. The system the first two used was flat-out broken, and it was originally taken out of the fourth game entirely before it was put back in in one of the expansions.

I strongly recommend getting Gn K if you wanna try Ci V. It's just a superior experience.

Eh, I've already stated my case earlier in the thread. A year and a half to consider it hasn't really changed my opinion all that much.
