Feel free to discuss.

I'm trying to get my sister to watch the movie, but she hates spoilers so she won't be watching until that and Specter's Flute comes out in America.

Is there anyone here who wants the UK dub to remain intact for other releases?

Save for Lani Melina missing her role as Luke (since Maria Darling voices him in the UK), the US dub should be pretty much be identical except with US Luke to maintain localization consistency.

[up]Agreed. It was hard to get used to UK Luke's voice after listening to Lani Minella for the first three games.

Amazon says it's only going to be in Japanese with English subtitles. I'm disappointed.

OH MY GOD, I JUST SAW IT.

It's the best movie i've seen in ages. It made me laugh, it made me think, and it definitely made me cry.

I swear, there is no better videogame-to-movie adaption than Professor Layton And The Eternal Diva.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.

[up]Do you (or anyone else here) know if Luke using his US voice or his UK voice? I ordered it from Amazon and I'm dying to know if his lines have been redubbed.

[up]Thanks!

I'm guessing Viz was really tight on budget this time around.

I saw it todaaay! I was all proud of pretty much immediately solving most of the puzzles, but then the plot twists at the end kinda lost me because I lost track of people's names, haha. Darn.

It was certainly very lovely, though. Hell, the movie could just be a static picture and I'd watch it for the music alone.

I just wish that the Scotland Yard guy hadn't been such a Joke Character. He was actually pretty awesome. I at least wanted him to look cool fighting some minions!

Can I assume this is not for non-game fans?

That said I've been considering trying on of the games for a while.

My brothers never played the games, and they enjoyed it. They don't really bother to introduce Professor Layton and Luke, but its really easy to pick up on their characters.

I watched the movie, and enjoyed it, but... thinking about the plot, nothing makes sense! What did Descole need Ambrosia for? Why was there a puzzle competition when they needed a girl? Still, not a bad adaptation.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!

Most of the plots are like that. They somehow manage to straddle that fine line where they're completely enjoyable while being played, but afterwards, you realize that everyone involved must be completely nuts.

I've played the games. They made more sense than the movie. (You really gotta suspend that disbelief though.)
