I suppose you guys are right, perhaps the kings face is rendered differently.
- However, on an unrelated note, the scene where Merida is stuck with the cauldron answering machine really invoked dreamworks to me; Modern popculture into a medieval setting. Now I don't hate dreamworks, and this is a thread about Brave, so we shouldn't get into an argument about them, but That humor was very dreamworks-esque, and didn't sound that pixar-y (Though they've made a few pop-culture references here and there). Any one's thoughts on the scene?
It reminded me more of Merlin or the Genie than anything.
Don't forget, Disney went to that well first.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Pop culture jokes don't invoke others movies when I see them (that gag didn't even LOOK pop-culturey to me), and I honestly tend to like Dreamworks movies most of Dreamworks' movies.
The Witch indeed fits poorly into the story overall; it isnt just "she's a little too wacky" but also "What is her deal? Is she a Trickster Mentor, an agent of fate, or just plain crazy?" and even worse, is she to blame (for both bear curses) making her the story's true villain, willingly or not? she really needed to be presented more clearly.

Saw movie it was...not bad, but overall...ok.
Read my stories! It's an anachronism joke, not a pop culture joke. Pop culture joke are jokes that reference or parody things popular at the time, in particular the works of media or current events of the time. The zeitgeist, if you will. Classic Looney Toons or Dreamworks moves provide this. Anachronism jokes are jokes which are derived from things that characters should not have knowledge of given their time period and location, such as Merlin's knowledge of things like locomotives and tourism in The Sword In The Stone. Want both? See The Flintstones!
...Wow, that got tangential.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaHa! I knew it wasn't a pop culture joke!
Either way, I thought it didn't work.
Looking for some stories? It's more like a Sam and Max joke, considering who worked on this movie.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatSteve Purcell was one of the co-directors on Brave. (He was also the crow's voice, but that's neither here nor there) He probably didn't have much to do with the scene, but the stuff with the witch felt more like something from a point-and-click adventure game than a medieval fantasy. Even the way Merida got her to give her the spell felt like something from like a Sam and Max game or something.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI wonder when Brave is showing in theaters here in the-
August 1
FUCK DAMMIT CRAP BITCH MOTHER.

If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.Okay, why does one studio have to fall in order for another to get the spotlight? It's all in the mentality. We all want good movies from various studios, alright? I admit I'm somewhat Pixar biased, but that doesn't automatically mean I want Dreamworks to suck.
I treat all living things equally. That is to say, I eat all living thingsAh, sorry. I hadn't meant to imply such a negative attitude. It's just usually there IS only one top dog at a time, and I think it'd be good if we switched up who's on top every once in a while. I hadn't meant that Pixar had to start sucking, just that it'd be nice if someone else got to be "The Best" for a while.

Despite how I sound sometimes, I do genuinely like Pixar movies. I was, however, starting to get tired of seeing them win Best Animated Feature every year.
Looking for some stories?I saw brave a few nights ago(on tuesday matinee night) before seeing it, I heard alot of mixed reviews about this movie. Which I was kind of surprised considering that alot of people were hoping this would "fix" pixar from the crash from Cars 2.
I will say, I was impressed what Pixar has done with brave. Even though I will say some of the parts of the movie I found very cliched. I wish that the king of the vikings had more lines, he was very funny. Did anyone see the three little brothers as humanized versions of Huey, Duey, and Lewey? Kinda wished they had an uncle who had an anger management issue that wouldve taken the cake. lol
I see what you did there...
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.So I saw the movie.
I agree that the plot was far too simple, to the point that it was anti-climatic. Meridea and Elinor's relationship was very interesting, but it shouldn't have had to carry the movie. I personally think Mordu should have had a larger presense on the plot, because there seemed to be so little tension in this movie.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@eternalnoob: I don't know what about you, but this is why I didn't bother not avoiding spoilers.
@Muu Mew Ah, sorry about that. I was just getting a bit annoyed about all these Dueling studios. After a while, demonizing other studios in favor of others just seems to muddy waters. Both Disney and Don Bluth worked pretty hard to get whatever success they had at the time; Bluth may have toppled Disney for a bit, but he also struggled with having steady support. The Disney animators were going through their Dark Ages with the Black Cauldron, before managing a modest hit with GMD.
These studios should hopefully be able to coexist with their various styles.
I treat all living things equally. That is to say, I eat all living thingsDub ya shes a lesbian.
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill. No, just an unsympathetic brat.
Looking for some stories? She just hasn't found the right bear to settle down with yet.
More in terms of the girl having a bigger bear fixation than Stephen Cobeart. (sic, and sick)
She finally learns a magic spell and it's: Summon Bigger Bear

"Show us the Galaxy Warp."
Could be some misguided Photoshop touch-ups.
Merida didn't look flattering in the restraining dress she had to wear for the betrothal, but THIS shot was surpringly ALLURING!◊
