Moral Disconnance I guess............ Times Where Different
A guy called dvorak is tired. Tired of humanity not wanting to change to improve itself. Quite the sad tale.I think this is an example of the whole "you need a girlfriend in order to be important" idea crossed with "muscular people easily attracted the poor attention spans of women" and given a good old sexist shake around.
Leigh: Huh, I remember this ad as the beach bully asking the girl out and her leaving Mac for him. That made a lot more sense than her sticking around and insulting him.
“Love is the eternal law whereby the universe was created and is ruled.” — St. BernardThat makes more sense. Still means she's useless and fickle.
"All pain is a punishment, and every punishment is inflicted for love as much as for justice." — Joseph De Maistre.Yet exactly the behavior I'd expect, since the buff guy has higher mate value.
“Love is the eternal law whereby the universe was created and is ruled.” — St. BernardI hate those ads. I hate them with a burning passion. Not only because they seem to imply that my only reward for working to stay skinny would be to lose my girlfriend to some fatass, and the only reward for going the opposite direction would be getting said girlfriend to take me back, but because they're full of crap. Seriously, working out for 12 hours straight will not make you buff overnight. Believe me, I've tried.
In short: misogyny sucks.
-phew- Okay, rant over.
I think these old ads are kinda silly.◊
My first thought is, "way to be useless, nameless girl who's with Mac." I mean, seriously, what kind of girl doesn't stick up, or at least get mad, when her boyfriend is being bullied? And what kind of girl doesn't see her boyfriend as a real man? And what kind of guy dates such a girl?
What's your first thought?
