Just to throw in another thing most adults deal with and something that doesn't get talked about too often on the rest of the fora.

Right now I'm liking my new job a lot. After working there for three weeks I'm realizing just how toxic my first job at Mc Donald's was. I mean it gets irritating or busy sometimes at the bagel shop, but nowhere as bad as at my old store.

And the management really scored some points in my book when they were willing to let me leave early today for a personal emergency.

I am at work now. Messing around on fora, drinking coffee and painting Space Marines.

Yeah. Good weather at sea = bugger all going on around here.

I work less than five hours this week. It's getting ridiculous.

I work at Jack-in-the-Box. Like Alk up there, I compare it favorably to my old Ms Donald's job.

Soy protein with apparently some "meat flavoring" rendering them not actually vegetarian. If they don't mention "meat" in something that should be meat, it's not meat. If they don't mention what kind of meat, assume the worst :)

I work in a toy store: Not nearly as fun as you would think.

I'd like to be quality control officer in a brothel.

It's always worth remembering that a fun hobby can make a crappy job.

I posted pics from my job in "The Garage". And yes, we do stuff like that all day long. It's kinda fun, but there are days.

The months we spent last winter washing paint off of old timbers (outside, in 40 degree storm-weather) with a pressure washer were the antithesis of fun.

I've only ever had one 'real' job, which was working in the international mail sorting centre. I enjoyed it, actually, except for the hours spent putting christmas cards into trays for dogs to sniff.

It did give me an insight into the postal system. And that insight is, wrap everything in as much bubblewrap as you can get your hands on and stickytape the living daylights out of it.

Anyone else think of ways to entertain themselves with more monotonous work?

Working the drive-thru can be boring but I try to think od interesting things to say to the customers. Once, when a lady asked if she could "have a minute" to think over her order I said, "Fine, don't talk to me! Leave me like everyone else does! You all just come and go. Lonely, I am so lonely, I have nobody to call my own..."

That last part was sung. She laughed for a good thirty seconds.

This one is currently working part-time (meaning 3 days in a week for 7-8 hours) as an assistant in a college. Wasn't fired yet, which is rather surprising. But there is a major reorganisation coming, so there might not be a place left for someone who only worked there for a month and who's post is not, strictly speaking, necessary. Oh, and current wage is such that this one wonders if selling myself to slavery would be more profitable=). But that doesn't matter much, as it is an experience what I am after.

Parable, you probably made that lady's day. Something like that would have put me in a good mood all day long, I know.

Heh, your story reminded me of when I worked drive-thru with a bandaged hand Parable. I kept myself entertained that week by just making up more outlandish stories as to what happened to my hand. Sometimes it was regular stories like falling down or that it got burned(which was the truth) to crazy stuff like a Bullet Catch or a Barehanded Blade Block.

@Parable: I wish more drive-thru robots did that.

I am such a robot I once had to run out of the store to push a ladies car out of the drive-thru because she ran out of gas between the order screen and the window.
