egregious spelling errors are entirely intentional, for the below post - a journal for myself, an uneducated miner. I encourage others to post up their own journal entries, too, just as flavoring.

Journel entry numbir 1

its been a few weeks sinc I moved here from the republic to the mountains. winter hit here very hard even down here in the low lands and Red and I had to work a lot to keep from frezing from the cold. the mountain pass we were staying at was going to kill us. we saw a - landslide? - no, an ava-lanch. lots of snow.

we found this sight site after a few days of walking, after we left the pass. warmer than the pass if you can beliv it. good earth here. i met red here, too, but we had to get a sheltir up. hard hard work that was.

fixed, as I didn't meet Red until I made it to where the shelter was.

well, we managd to scrach us a underground cavern from the rock whil Red started hunting agin. we were running out of bread.

but that was a few weeks ago. we have moar peple here now, so its looking lik a for real villag now.

i'm busy mining. the new archit -architact- builder, Ori, is helping me leirn my letters more. didn't have much tiem for skool back in the city. lots of nice peple here now. toofel is our luber jack, and braught in a lot of seedlings for trees. they grow quick here and we have lots of littel trees now. lance is a good farmer and he bakes good bread. Blue is another miner. i dont see him much he must be bisy in his mine. lots of good ore to dig up here.

ill make sure to show this to miss Ori so she can help me leirn more letters. ill try to rite more when i get a chanse but its hard.

Lance's Journal.

Entry 1:

Well it's far from the Imperial Botanica, but there's still a surprising amount of Flora Here. I've set up a small farm to the west of the main village, the hunter had attempted to set up a crude farm, but didn't keep it weeded properly, I've fixed it and taken over the plot. What were a bunch of starving and dirty peasents when I arrived have slowly grown in health, I've got several cupboards stuffed with bread in case of emergency, but my farms continue to be productive, even without the fertilizers we had at the Botanica.I've made myself a small home in a cliffside, more cramped than my apartment in the imperial city, but comfortable nonetheless.

Journal Entry Two:

During a lull in work I took a tour of the mines, I've not seen much of anyone in some time, I have no idea where they go. they appear to have started a minecart line of some kind, but lack the kinetic boosters to make it fully operational, I'd lend my experience, if I could find anyone, but there's no way I could cobble it together myself...

Ori's Journal: [[Spoiler: I am a medieval Grad Student. Worst Internship. EVER.]]

My apprenticeship over, I embarked upon my journeyman's studies. the king has dispatched me to the northern settlement to build crude shelters for the settlers there. I'm an architect not a miracle worker! However, the miners are enthusiastic, and I've already thrown up quite a few buildings. I am joined by another builder, who calls himself Jester. Despite his joke of a name, he is a committed worker.

I have also taken on a volunteer project—a few of the peasants are barely literate. They want badly to learn to express themselves in writing, and I am the only one who will help them.

as soon as I lay hands on some brick laying materials, I must build a school house.

^ A school, good idea. Need to find clay, though, and lots of it...

I think we'll need walls built around the settlement. Would like them to be obsidian, but since we have very little diamond, we could make a temporary wall to keep critters out, and use that wall as part of a mold with which to cast an obsidian wall - that or have a layered wall with an obsidian core. But, we've built a lot of buildings to the edge of the ice, so no clue if we would have to exclude some buildings from the wall or not. All we would need is a good lava source. I know of one far to the east, about a day's journey, but I think Blue Box found some in the mines. All this would be to keep critters out when I do manage to turn them on.

Wife almost drown herself trying to catch squid. [lol] Discovered that the bowls from shroom stew are consumed too, when you eat the stew. I recall them not being consumed.

journel entry numbir 2

teh othir miner blue is smart he made some trak and has a mine cart to help him move ore and rock around. i guess its bettir than carrying lotsa ore around in bags and stuff. Red almost drownded last night, fell through the ice and had to rip off her armor to keep from drowning and stufff.

i had to get a fire going to keep her from getting the chills real bad but it looks like shell get better soon. she talked about wanting a wall around the settlement to keep bad critters out. i dont know what shes toaking about, all we get are stupid pigs and cows that eat our flowers and leave messes. just one more reason why i stay down in the miens the animals dont get down there.

toofel has got sum real big trees now. called them some wierd yadrasil-thing or somethin like that. Miss Ori said she would wirk to get a skool built but she mentiond that she will need briks to build it. so if i see any clay i have to let her know.

journal Entry 2: The explorer cartographer has arrived. Why anyone would want to explore this barren place is beyond me, but as I am curious about the natural wildlife, I have agreed to go with him to build a few supply shacks.

Our Hunter, who is married to one of the miners, nearly drowned the other day hunting the illusive squid. As those creatures provide Ink for all of our journals, it was a necessary task. Still, one wishes there were a safer way then swimming in the frigid waters with a sword.

I shall have to consider a wall for the settlement. It is a testament to my own inexperience that so many of the buildings are outlying from the main area. I may build a stone fortification of the main buildings and encase the rest in wooden fences.

Journel entry three (i think. im not very good with numbers. oh yep, its three)

my first lessons with Miss Ori are dificult but good. she lets me read some of the books she brought with her and i like reading of the faraway lands. i found out that one of the stories is about the Republic, which is where Miss Aeribbis was from. she liked the republic, but she didnt like the league at all.

i miss her. she was nice. maybe nicer than Red. i dont regret picking Red as my wife, though. Aeribbis was way too smart for me, she sometimes lost patence with me. Red has always been nice to me even when she was mad about somthing. Aeribbis was a builder arkitect like Miss Ori and Mr Blue are. we wanted to seek out a frontir land to call our own as she was sick and tired of all the politishians making up all these dum laws and the war was getting worse too. so we left the republic, helped me make the shelter in teh mountain pass to the southwest when winter hit.

i wish we wouldve stayed there.

maybe she wold be alive now if we hadnt left the pass when we did. she had gotten sick eatig something and when we woke up the next morning she was dead. i kind of cried or something. i had to bury her right there as i was already week and stuf from the cold and hunger.

i think i shuld tell the othirs where the grave is. pretty much bee line from the pass to here i think. we were so close to shelter why diddnt i stop her from

(-journal entry abruptly ends-)

fixed, as I didn't meet Red until I made it to where the shelter was.

Red's wanting the wall to include the spawn point (in case we die), so we're marking off where we can place the wall.

Also wants it kicked out in a few spots - will give me and Tuefel a larger area to play "Slider".

journel entry fiv for four

I had forgoten to tell Miss Ori that me and Red had one of those frontir frontier marriages. i guess she was lonely out here all by herself, hunting and stuff, when i showed up.

after she got me back on my feet and fed i guess it made sence sense to get marryed. shes strong and brave and knows how to gut pigs and all. maybe not as smart as Aeribbis was, but Aeribbis and i wernt married anyway. but we might have ended up marry married if she had lived through this winter.

its complicated. Why does it have to be complicated?

We have a wall up around the shelter - Red liked most of it, wanted us to change a few things at other spots. Work work work. I need to give Miss Ori a bunch of stone now.

Mr Blue got really hurt yesterday. he's doing fine now, but he lost all his stuff down in the mines. he barely got out of there alive, but everyone thinks he'll be just fine.

The whole camp was tense today in part because of Blue's injuries, and in part because our psychotic hunter, Red, took it upon herself to tell me how to do my job. After pvt, our lumberjack Tuefel, and I spent days building a very nice wall around the settlement, she barges in and points out that's just got to be bigger. Why we need wide open spots of land between us and the wall, and gaping bits of unlit ice, I'll never fathom, but as she is the one providing us with food, and since she and Pvt (That's how he writes his name, anyway) were the first here, I spent more days re doing the wall. At least it is finished. It lacks a few entry points, and all of my picks broke in the process, and the smith ran off to Creeper knows where, so who knows when I'll get more tools.

But it's done.

Somebody else can light the damn place.

I'm going to bed.

I honestly didn't mind enlarging the wall—but my character did ;p

Okaaaaay. My husband finally twisted my arm into posting on this forum. Let's just say I have forum-phobia from past experiences. Maybe this is my therapy :/ Anyways this is my intro post and then I'll do my journal entry.

@ Ori: as the sign noted I wanted you me and pvt to discuss the perimeter a little more. He had some points and I had some points and there were a few things we couldn't agree on so I was looking for a 3rd opinion. The perimeter I suggested wasn't laid in stone, which is why I used gravel (pun totally intended! :o ) and why I didn't move your perimeter or have pvt tear it down. I haven't been ingame to see the new wall but I would still like to have that discussion if you have some time when my hubby gets home. ;)

To everyone else involved: I'm fully aware that it doesn't make any sense to have the newest person to minecraft in charge of a server but I'm hoping that you all are patient with me as I learn. I am completely open to suggestions, better ideas and different ways to run things I just want the small village concept with specific interdependent roles. This is very much a learning experience for me and I would love for all of you to be my teachers, so please speak up if you think things could be done a little better!

Thanks to all who have joined and made this possible, let's have fun with it! :)

Red Entry I

Miss Ori told me to write. She said it's for school. I haven't wrote since Papa made me. But I guess I have to now. I guess I'll talk about Papa. I lived with Papa in the woods. He teached me how to hunt. He teached me how to make small shelters. We had fun chasing animals. Until Papa was gone one day. I don't know why. I started looking for him. But then I met pvt. He needed my help. I made a shelter and made him better. He said we should get married. It sounded like a good idea since I lost Papa. He built a house over our shelter. Then more people found our shelter. I like the new people. It's not the same as being alone with Papa. But it's fun with new people. My hand is tired now. I guess I'll write more later.

Hey babe, did you know you can drag and highlight spoilers?

Ha, made you highlight this!

I just plugged in a spoiler. It's a way to hide out-of-character stuff, so Ori was cool with re-doing the wall, but her character wasn't.

Does that make sense?

Do up a post and you should see, as you're writing it, something that says "show markup help."

You can do bold or italics or strikeing out text or internal site redirects and all sorts of stuff that even I havent figured out.

I go to a normal forum and I weep for the egregious lack of markup stuff.

Hey, this could be fun.

This si a totally out of character post.

Red I like working in the server—since no one was around, i just did the wall to the border shown. if more needs to be done, I'll cheerfully do it—-But Miss Ori might not, since she's young and wall work is back breaking and uncreative. (Plus, I had to give her a little bit of character development, since she can't be all sweetness and light. Even if I mostly am sweetness and light..and snarkiness. This is the longest parenthesis EVER)

Your doing fine being in charge. No worries!

Arrived. Small settlement. Strange people. Figures, all colonists are the same - strange.

Lots of trees. Chopped down a lot. Planks, sticks, charcoal, signs, torches and axes were made. Tiring but good work.

Ended the evening on a tavern bench. Hard. Must get a room.

Hah, I'm not usually this stoic... Anyway, hello people. New logger here. This server is awesome. grin

journal entry five

I saw a wierd patern in the ice today. i asked Red about it, but she didn't know either. it's to the south of the settlement, just outside the walls.

i dont like it. the ice is very thick, too thick to just melt. the spring thaw is nowhere close yet. someone or something melted the ice, and they did it on purpose. it almost looks like a warning sign.

i'll tell the others.
