Welcome to the Porch :

What's the "rule" on making threads that aren't about a broad general topic? Acceptable? Discouraged? Might-work-but-probably-won't-get-many-posts?
Loves horses and her boyfriend too
So there will be no silliness and tomfoolery?

I think I shall like that.

Zzzzzzzzzz
^ Nobody said that. There is silliness and tomfoolery aplenty. It's just lower key and not so much "look at me!" silliness and tomfoolery.

Not much posting though.

@Maddie: I much prefer that breed of tomfoolery.

@Hungry: we CO Bbies have less to say because we're too busy paying our own bills, cooking our own meals, and working our lousy jobs to be posting here as much as we'd like.

The posting here seems to come in fits and starts. We'll go two or thee days without even racking up one page worth of new posts, then we'll rack up five new pages in one night.

Indeed. Slow but steady seems to be the way it usually goes.
"Five pages in one night" tends to happen when Fast Eddie gets drunk and/or Becca and/or Janitor come in to spar with him.
I wish Janitor was around more often to be honest. She seems like she is loads of fun to talk to.

Dunno why I was initially nervous about Janitor.

I like Janitor.

I like it when our august founder gets inebriated. He's hilarious and I feel a sort of kinship with him in such moments.

WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Did some extra hours at work earlier in the week so I cut out early.

The dreary, wet weather of the Pacific Northwest had given way to clear skies and sunshine.

I get home to my wife, who is just finishing up a cheese and pickle sandwich for my return.

After my late lunch, I decide the weather is perfect for some smoking and whiskey.

I gathering my cigars, Kiseru, Midwakh, and a two sample sized bottles of whiskey. The Beatles and Blues Traveler keep me company on my Zune as I watch my cats frolic in the sunshine and my wife through our sliding glass door. She smiles at me while petting our Balinese, which has opted for the much cooler table.

First I muse on my attempts to become some sort of multi-cultural hedonist…which seem to have gone horribly right at this point. I think Pearl Jam sasses me at some point and sings about how the “Haves haven’t got a clue”, or some such. I’m having too much of a good time to care.

Fuel sings a song about not being happy until finally dying, I think that this song is clearly about someone not me. Also that whoever came up with “High school is the happiest years of your life” probably sucked at being an adult. My lungs are crying for mercy from my almost stub cigar and I ignore them.

Static X sings a catchier song, somewhat poignant with lines like “Hey I know I hope she don't crash: Buring up baby like a falling star.” By now I’ve moved on to my Kiseru and figure every line I’ve been feed about how much it sucks to grow up has been a filthy lie.

As I pack up A para para max rendition of a Dragon Ball song kicks in and think “Now that’s a bit more appropriate.”

Wife is two months pregnant and I have no reason to believe being a father will do anything but make my life that much better.

Poor Justice. The spawnling will introduce human chaos. Enjoy it though :P

WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Wife & I introduce plenty of our own human chaos. tongue

Though I'm sure a young Justice will introduce a new kind of chaos.

Luckily I have a job where an e-mail that reads "Newborn attempting to summon the damned with unholy wailing." would be enough to be allowed to work from home.

That's actually over in Yack Fest, unless you mean specifically to this subforum.

The Porch is kinda empty...

Granted, it's hard to compete with the COBBIES thread.

Greetings!

For my part, I am a maths geek, a Latin scholar, an enthusiastic (amateur) musician, and, naturally, an avid reader (currently reading a lot of Margery Allingham).

This looks to be a place of civilised conversation. smile Such places appear to be few and far between nowadays... I would be glad to find one.

Salvē, both of you!

I assure you, I would not make such a comment; one might as well say the same of Gervase Fen!

Uh, hey guys.

I'll try to be mature enough to participate in this thread, I guess? Please notify me if I seem childish.
