That the trope is named after a Troper Tale makes it even worse. This is certainly a trope but needs a rename to something like Blemish Overreaction.
"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing."I don't think it's named after a Troper Tale, I think it was named after Seinfeld or one of those other sitcoms.
Fight smart, not fair.Oh, I was thinking of putting this in Trope Repair. Hideously named after a single example that not everyone will know.
I'm sure there's a catchy and clear name for this trope somewhere, but bugger if I can think of one.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdWont Date A Girl With Man Hands?
They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?Yeah, something like that.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. We could go with that, unless someone thinks of something even better.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdDumped Over Earlobe Size or something like that, after the Weird Al example?
You mean Her Earlobes Were Too Big, yes?
Rhymes with "Protracted."Yeah, but I wanted to emphasize the "dumped" part of the trope, which is pretty important.
I think the trope can be expanded on any overreaction to a minor blemish, since they're pretty much the same thing with only the outcomes differing. If a worker's boss freaks out and fires them over a tiny cold sore, it wouldn't be much different than being dumped over it.
"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing."Not really, as that has different story implications. One could lead to a lawsuit, for one thing.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. The point of the trope is to show the reacting character as being extremely shallow and so forth. The consequences of being shallow are therefore meaningless for the purposes of the trope.
"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing."Okay, re-read the description and saw what you meant.
Bob Cant Stand Alices Minor Flaw is wordy, but gets the point across.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Going back to the NBC sitcom well, 30Rock's Liz Lemon wrote a book about the same general premise called Deal Breakers.
Jet-a-Reeno!As I understand it, this is about people who are perfect but for one overstated flaw, if so then why not Flawed Diamond?
Overstated Flaw would be more direct.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyOverstated Flaw is pretty good. Flawed Diamond sounds more like it's about a personality flaw, whereas most of the examples for this trope are physical.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdI like Shima's Minor Flaw, Major Breakup — not too long, gets the specific scenario across nicely.
Thirded. It's short, it's punchy, and it gets the point across.
I reject your requirement for a witty statement or fanboyish squealing in my signature.Bumping for resolution.
Deal Breaker? It's a pretty common existing phrase.
Deal Breaker can apply to way too many situations. How about Relationship Deal Breaker?
Of course, a deal breaker can be entirely reasonable, while the point of Man Hands is that the deal breaker is something "that any normal person would probably be able to live with, but the protagonist feels is too much for him or her to handle. The 'glaring' flaw is often something incredibly minor, and often used to show that the protagonist is a pretty shallow, self-absorbed and petty character."
Unreasonable Relationship Deal Breaker? Ugh.
I didn't write any of that.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
I see the trope name and think it's about deformities ladies have, not a silly reason to dump someone. We could at least add a few words for context.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
