I dunno, graduating from college is really important.

NOT THE BEES
It certainly is important, but the dissonance is in how much so. The vibe I get from an ad like that is roughly similar to if I saw a picture of someone smiling saccharinely and giving a thumbs-up with an awesome car and idyllic home in the background, with the caption "I slayed my own offspring for personal gain!"

If you want to read it as an act of selfishness, then fine. Nobody can prevent you from seeing worth in something that has none.

Also, who said they had gotten an abortion? They could have gone to PP for low-cost birth control, thus preventing them from needing to get an abortion.

That image in of itself is all sorts of fallacy, namely it's disregarding all sorts of other consequences from continued sexual behavior like that (along with money problems if the person needs to get abortions repeatedly because most clinics only give one free abortion), an appeal to emotion (happy ending, yaaaayyyy), and an outcome that's assumed (I made it through college thanks to abortion, hoorah!).

Regardless of which side of the debate I'm on, that image thoroughly sucks.

But then again so do the videos. And many arguments on both sides. This topic is one big moot point that really doesn't have any meaning behind it.[[/rant]]
The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

Well, for what it's worth, many of the same people opposed to abortion are opposed to birth control as well...

Meh, English Ivy ninja'd me. In the context of abortions, it's full of fallacies. Birth control on the other hand...

Abortions and birth control are too separate topics, doesn't matter if there's a strong correlation between the two as far as people's opinions are concerned, so best not to simplify this stuff, yes?

Who am I kidding, politics can be summed up as "Best not to simplify this, yes?"

You have to understand that many of us prolifers are big on preserving the social order. We don't want to consign women to the Dark Ages, oh no, but a lot of social conservatism of which this is a part focuses on the need to preserve some sort of social order. Now we may disagree with a lot of people, but if we didn't, this would not be an issue in a democratic society.

Ummm, all it takes is a single night of sex to get pregnant. And all it takes is a single unwanted baby to ruin your life(unless the guy is well off and decides to marry you)
^ And what does restricting a woman's freedom from having surgery have to do with social order?

That said, Social Order isn't all that important when a certain way of life exists only for specific religious groups in a world where atheists and other religions are growing in number.

That said...anyone else have hilarious pro-life videos? The next best thing I can think of is the one in Family Guy...

Then perhaps we should do an ad that shows the same girl in a McDonald's uniform contemplating suicide. How about that?

In your opinion.

Smugness is not report-worthy.
