EA, let me just say one thing to you. Consistency motherfucker, do you know of it? It is still nice news though.smile

[down]I was reffering to EA doing good things we want to see instead of being evil dicks all the time. I obviously exagerate things.

They are being consistent. They never actually said it was canceled, it was just interpreted and spun that way by numerous news outlets.

And I'm glad to hear it's still there...if just...in the hospital or something.

eh, this is EA. You'll be locked out of half the features of the game if you don't buy it new, and by the time any Mirrors Edge sequel comes out, a used copy will just be a paid-for demo.

Hope they really do make this sequel; the first game felt like something really new - both the gameplay mechanics and especially the art style, loved it. Good news to know it's not dead *for certain*.

That theme makes me cry so hard..T_T

But yeah, Mirror's Edge 2 needs to happen. It's just way too original of a concept..it can't die. D=

I would totally be very interested in playing Mirror's Edge, if it just weren't for the 1st Person Perspective.

I don't understand why Western developers seem so stuck in the First Person paradigm. It's like every time I see something that looks like it appeals to me, it has some glaring stereotype of Western gaming that I don't like. I hope this game gives players some kind of 3rd person gameplay style. If they do that, I'll buy it.

I'm not biased against Western video game developers. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is my absolute favourite platformer of all time. And probably in my top ten of best games of all time. And Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a masterpiece and my most favourite sports game ever. But you know, I happen to be one of those Western games who likes androgyny. I happen to be ones of those Western gamers who happens to like cutesy things like Little Big Planet. I happen to be one of those Western gamers who doesn't like First Person Perspective. And you're losing me and people like me by always doing this. I almost would have loved this game. I almost would have. But I just don't like First Person Perspective. Please, DICE, give me some good third person gameplay like this game.

Ben Croshaw says that the main character doesn't care about what packages she's delivering - that she could be working for the bad guys.

Ahem, Yahtzee, that's entirely the point. Take a cue from the song: she doesn't care, really. She just wants to stay alive.

Sorry if that seems like a silly reason, but I have never really enjoyed first person perspective.

If that's what you're saying. A lot of the things I like and don't like about Video Games can be pretty superficial seeming, I suppose. But I just don't enjoy playing in first person. It's the fact I grew up on third person perspectives. Whether it's top down games, 2D platformers, or so forth, I think. I think that's a large part of it. I also think I feel kind of disoriented with first person in games because I'm just looking forward. I just feels weird in a bad way for me.

And that's pretty much the only thing keeping me from wanting to play this game. Everything else about it I like. Good music, interesting main character, the "Parkour-like" combat that really sounds fascinating, and the pictures I've seen are really pretty. I'd be pretty well dying to play this game if it was in third person. Or rather, I would have bought it already.

This is a triumph.

I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

@Ukon: Well, I could see ME working in a third-person perspective-It's just that it would need a really good camera for that to work.

There should be an option for every game to either play in First or Third Person. Everyone's happy.

I thought the main gimmick about ME was that it was a platformer done in first person?

[up]That. Without the first-person it's just a generic platformer with fiddly controls.

I just hope they get rid of the underground and inside buildings segments. Those were the worst.

Huh. And here I thought the end of Mirror's Edge didn't have room for a sequel, what with Faith and her sister being shot to death immediately after the scene cut to credits by the army of heavily armed soldiers ten feet behind them that the ending forgot about.

But during the end credits, as the camera pans out, we see that the guards...have mysteriously disappeared! Plus the credits had a radio broadcast mentioning how they escaped if I remember correctly. So yeah...
