Who else has this fine music-based schmup?

I plan on nabbing this during the next Steam megasale.

The first song I will play on it? The Megadeth cover of the Duke Nukem theme.

I've played:

And I should do the Need For Speed II songs by Jeff van Dyck, since I already did most of them on Audiosurf.

Beat Hazard is a lot of fun, although certain conditions will have you pulling your hair out. (I'm looking at YOU, dual laser-wielding minibosses in a silent part of the song D:) Also, I find Survival Mode really difficult for some reason, but some playlist management may mitigate that somewhat.

I played it a fair bit when first came out, but I haven't touched it in months. I still have one of the scores in the top 10,000 for "Tracks 3 minutes and under", though. (That sounds less impressive out loud than it does in my head.)

Second song I will do: Benny Hill.

Bonus points for if I die like a chump.

I actually found survival mode to not be too hard.

I played through it with the Scott Pilgrim vs The World Gamerip. As there was a lot of fading in and out, my weapons were quite underpowered at time. However, I still managed to get all the survival bonuses achievements.

Oh, that's beautiful. I love how when the guitar solo first kicks in he just flips out and sprays lasers in every direction. [lol]

Also, Dragonforce isn't as bad as I remember them being. I think I just have a very limited appetite for Heavy Mithril.

Dragonforce's slow songs are actually quite good. I suggest you try them.

First song I played was by Dragon LAND. Yeah, big difference actually.

Also, the game helped me recognize some of my songs that I don't listen to all that much. Great stuff. And the game's quite fun too, if not a bit hard sometimes with the bosses.

Tenacious D is awesomesauce. Pretty much any epic metal would work too, but I am yet to try Hallowed Be Thy Name or Condition Red. Any video game boss theme (hint: try those of the newer Contras) would also work well =)

Urgh... Beat Hazard for Mac OS X, the version that would benefit most from it, still doesn't have iTunes / m4a compatibility.

I'd be less pissed if iTunes hadn't converted most of my uploaded music from C Ds and (occasionally) non-iTunes related downloads into m4a without my knowledge.

Doesn't the game has DLC that makes the game able to play m4a format?

As far as I can tell, only in the .exe version.

Just got it in the latest Indie Gala. Really, really fun. I just lost a few hours to playing through my Matthew Taylor Frampton album and some MC Front-A-Lot. Now if only it didn't hang up for a few minutes every time I navigate into my music folder...
