One thing that saddens me about Sonic 2006 was the sheer ambition that the game was made with. Because of the game's poor reception, Sonic Team has cut back majorly on the amount of ambition that each succeeding game has. It also killed off the Dreamcast-era style of 3D Sonic.
Heck, even if 2006 had the usual amount of development time for a Sonic game, 2-3 years, I still don't think it would have been finished. What Sonic Team needs to do is to stop developing four games per generation and to spend more time on making each game bigger. We need another game that's as big as Sonic 3 And Knuckles, which had 14 zones.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. All it appears to be is a throwaway Continuity Nod. And considering how the credits didn't even try to show so much as competent play through the game, it's probably a bit much to expect them to put in some genuine thought in fitting the game in the timeline properly.
As for the topic at hand, though, Kopter's bro sounds like a pretty cool guy. eh challenges fanbases and doesn't afraid of anything.
So you saw, say, Final Fantasy VII and thought "MAN that looks horrible"? How... odd.
As for Sonic 06, I only played it once and I recall having fun on the hub by dicking around it as Silver and throwing things at people and such. That's pretty much my only memory of the game.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!It was fun to pick out the flaws in the game, but I still didn't like it.
dead devotionThat game made being a Sonic fan on certain sites a living hell. I'm not exactly a "fan" of it, to say the least.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Sonic '06 is probably the reason most people who aren't Sonic fans can't take the franchise remotely seriously any more, so... yeah. It was a huge mistake for everybody involved, both the people made it, and the people who bought it.

"Great Scott! Send in the Doomsday Squad!"Must have been a pretty widespread "huge mistake", then.◊

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy'06 certainly triggered Sonic Team's current habit of playing it safe. Does anyone think they're going to stop playing it safe for the next game?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Hope so.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."As long as the next game is good, I honestly couldn't care less.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I certainly wouldn't call the Storybooks nor Unleashed "playing safe", for the record.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyIt's certainly safe in comparison to '06, but ambitious compared to Colors and Generations.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. Not sure how legitimate it is, but it looks pretty real.
I mean, I don't care much anymore, but you guys...man, that sucks.
Has Sega's main website or any direct announcement from them happened?
I admit, he hasn't been capturing our hearts like he used to, so I can see the reason. Also, it wouldn't be too hard to re-emulate the classic games correctly. If the random fans can do it...
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol....Yeah, no, I for one am not going to buy a word-of-mouth from some forgettable and quite obviously sour employee who apparently doesn't even work with the series. In fact, the entire article just looks like it was constructed for the sole purpose of rumor-mongering.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyPress Release or it didn't happen :P
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I've already heard about that competition, and everyone is misunderstanding it. It's a contest for a mascot for a Nico Nico Douga show, it's not a contest to replace Sonic.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.No way that's legit. That's class A trolling from class F journalism.

What Wax said, some cunt is telling half the story then lying through their teeth to cause rumors. If this takes off, I will choke everyone who spreads it to me.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.I'm sure that site is genuine, actually. I mean, it's got shocking news stories I hadn't heard anywhere else, like Satoru Iwata punching investors and PS4s costing $2000! There is absolutely no way it is to video games journalism what The Onion is to mainstream media, no sir
Sega IS looking for a new mascot, but for some Japanese online show thing, not to replace Sonic.
Moon◊Also why would Sega stop wanting Sonic as their mascot when he's their biggest seller even now? Come on guys, use your heads.
I see sonic shirts all the time where I work lol.
Sonic: After the Sequel has met further soundtrack-related delays. He says it will come out in "a few more days".
When it comes to graphics, that's why I stuck to the genesis as a kid. Even then I realized that the PS 1 and such had pretty bad graphics even if you could play in 3d.
Which is why I prefered well-made 16 bit graphics to the wobbly and glitchy 3d ones. In particular, look no further than phantasy Star ii or 4, or Ristar. And of course the Sonic games had very expressive colors and very nice-looking backgrounds.
"No will to break."
