The original for me. The violin just makes it work.

Knouge forever!!
The American and European characters should at least make a cameo.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D
Solaris phase 2.

Don't like the vocal ones really.

Now I'm very sure Sonic would be caught off guard if Metal Sonic could use powers from all other Metal Sonics and his other forms.

Solaris Phase 2, but if I had to pick a vocal one I'd go with the original.

OK, I was listening to the Rush Adventure boss music, and I came up with an idea.

I think that the Sonic games, especially the modern ones, would benefit from a boss rush mode. Not sure exactly how many games have had it (SA 2 is the only one I'm sure of) but I came up with a cool format for it. Fights would take place inside a giant indoor stadium with a huge crowd consisting of various friendly characters from the game/series on one side, and an army of enemies on the other. In the center of the stadium would be a giant mixed martial arts or UFC ring (for classic and adventure-style bosses), with a floating circular racetrack in the air around it (for modern-style bosses). Bosses would be fought in order of appearance, with pauses in between. The pauses would take place in a locker room where there would be limited opportunities for ring/health recovery.

Also, the bosses would be modified to be harder and have special music playing for them. For example, Sonic 2's "Patheticmobile" would jump and make shockwaves, and Chaos would be made of lava.

Most of the Modern Sonic games leave something or other to be desired in the boss department, but if the games had more bosses in general they could really benefit from a boss rush with slightly different attributes or a slightly different arena the second time around.

Just awesome like that
I know the first two Sonic Advance games have somewhat of a boss rush before the final boss (though less of one in the first than the second). Maybe something like that?

The Zebrahead Version is my favorite
[up][up]She's basically easy mode.

The term "never in any actual danger" comes to mind for Cream.

I wonder... which character would be considered "hard mode" for Advance, at least in terms of fighting bosses - I play Advance 2, and I guess I would say Knuckles (since the running nature of the bosses makes his glide a liability) - Tails runs into something similar, but at least he can damage a couple of the bosses with his flight.

I like the Zebrahead version too. It's hard, it's fast, it is the essence of Sonic.
One day, House was walk into his House.

"It is good to have House House!" say House, as he walk into House House.
[up][up]I would say either Sonic or Amy for the first game, the first is basically the bare bones character with no special moves, while the latter is a character with far more complex and vulnerable controlling than the others (loads of special moves like high jump and body slam, but no rolling or spin dash).

Knuckles for Advance 2 as well, especially since his acceleration is low which means he can't enter quick mode(where the character sort of "breaks the sound barrier" and reaches top speed with after images trailing behind) as easily as Tails or Sonic. I never unlocked Amy.

[up][up]Hell, I never even unlocked Amy in that game. Too hard to find those medals needed to go to the special stage, especially since you had to collect all the Emeralds as Sonic (and then I think as other characters too), and too hard to beat the special stage (or even figure it out).

I meant Amy in Advance 1. Advance 2 Amy is basically just a slightly modified Sonic.

And yes the entry stipulations for those Special Stages is an arse. Shame as the stages themselves are okay.

The Great Clement managed it, though even he points out the sheer repetition of getting Amy wen she was playable in 1 and easily unlockable in 2.
The man in the trenchcoat didn't even apologize after dumping shit on you.
And at least Advance 1 Amy had a completely unique moveset and gameplay style which ironically would have made her more worth such a difficult unlockable (especially since she exists somewhat as a Hard Mode of sorts). Advance 2 Amy is basically if you want a sprite edit of Sonic.

Everybody's Aunt
Sonic Advance 1 Amy should totally be in 3D. The only change I might make is to increase her running speed.
Newtons Sleep. Good book. Also free, legal, and online.
Advance 1 Amy I think was a good example of a new character that had a unique enough moveset while still being loyal to the normal Sonic physics. Tails and Knuckles felt too much like 'Sonic but with more abilities' to me.

That's sorta their niche in the 2D games. Tails was Sonic with the ability to fly, and Knuckles was Sonic with he ability to glide and climb walls. That's generally how it went in the Genesis games.

What they need is more levels designed to challenge their abilities - having them tread Sonic's levels just makes the comparison/contrast between their abilities a lot more obvious.

Personally, I've never been a fan of character-exclusive levels in video games. I like being able to play as whoever I want wherever I want (though maybe I just feel this way because I mostly play games with either one character or more-or-less interchangeable characters). Blocking off certain levels to certain characters just seems arbitrary. Unless they did it in a similar way to SSBB's Subspace Emissary (after you beat a level, you can play it as anyone who has been unlocked) or had branching paths that are easier/harder for certain characters (but that you aren't necessarily forced to take)—that's the only way I'd accept character-exclusive levels.
