Sonic has had some decent stories in concept, but the execution of pretty much everything from the Adventures to Unleashed era has been pretty darn sloppy (except maybe the Rush games, but I've never played those). It wasn't really until Unleashed that the series got decent enough cutscene animation and voice acting to not make every scene super duper ultra Narm.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Secret Rings...did pretty well Voice acting wise as well as story, it really started there.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Oh yeah, forgot about those. Well, I haven't played the Storybook games, but I would just like to say that the basic premise of them is really freaking weird, even for the Sonic series. Who exactly came up with the idea for those? "I know, let's do classic Arabian and Arthurian mythology, only with Sonic characters!"
3rd Storybooke game: Great Expectations, but with Sonic characters. In fact, let's just make the whole series the Sonic equivalent of Wishbone.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Yeah the concept is pretty weird, but those games do story the best this series has ever done. The best characterization for Sonic definitely comes from these two games.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Just because a concept is out there it doesn't automatically render it bad.
Anyway, I vote that the format of the game I'd they ever do an open-world Sonic game should basically be Kirby Air Ride's City Trial. Just for the hell of it.
...I want my Kirby Air Ride sequel/remake/rerelease, dammit.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Also Blaze.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! Is this the end of Sonic on consoles?(Probably) Reminder that Runners is only for phones.
Edit: The people who've worked at Sega aren't painting the prettiest picture of the company.

I don't know what I'm looking at but, aside from the poor animation in places, I'm intrigued.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! What's even sadder is that I"m not even surprised by this. I knew how the company was run a few years back.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Uh, probably gonna screw up the code, but...

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I can only pray Sonic can find a better agent once his current one runs out of golds. Maybe Nintendo's hiring?
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Nintendo comes off as rather fully staffed.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyDon't you mean "runs out of rings"?
Anyways, I'm sure there's still money to be made off of Sonic, so I have a feeling we'll be getting more console games somehow or other.

De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Besides, as a Crash Bandicoot fan, I'm used to waiting years upon years for a new release. *cries*
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon. Some of those games I haven't played and don't want to comment on too much (besides saying that Bioware's use of Joseph Campbell's work as a template is both erroneous and boring, and that I find it doubtful that Infamous' narrative is that great given the juvenile use of a karma meter), but the ones that I did play or experience enough of either aren't what I consider very good storytelling (Heavy Rain, Kingdom Hearts) or have a lot of good ideas and great moments but could be better (Metal Gear). I'd agree with Naughty Dog.
i originally wrote a more detailed response to this but i figured this wasn't the place.
I think that it is and that I just have a different opinion from a lot of gamers (though the idea that videogame storytelling could be generally better is something i see fairly often).
If that's how you'd want to put it. I don't want to come off as having Opinion Myopia or whatever but I find it hard to enjoy anything from Adventure to Sonic 06. it's hard to take seriously any of them seriously as a narrative because every scene has aged so badly that it comes across as super Narm. If people like them for the Narm Charm, fair enough, but that's not necessarily the impression I get. i suppose this would be a good time for me to actually ask what exactly it was that fans enjoyed about them (i'll most likely disagree with their reasoning but it only seems appropriate anyway).

I stand by my idea that Sony should get Sonic as they're the only ones who can revive the Mario vs Sonic rivalry of his heyday (which was the driving force behind his creation, no less).
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Nah, I definitely don't want Sonic not being part of Smash Brothers.
Also what benefit is there from restarting that rivalry, when one franchise is the single best selling franchise of all time and the only consistent complaint is it getting stale, while the other is known for... unstable quality and a divided fanbase?
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniSony can't afford Sonic, they blew their budget on initial production losses, hardening their networks after the embarassing hacking incidents, and losses on the Xperia droid devices. Oh, and their brandname isn't even with the same zaibatsu any more (the previous owners of the Sony brand name lost so much money their zaibatsu fell apart and they had to sell the brand name off!)
Microsoft doesn't need Sonic, they've got the Master Chief and Cortana (who are lending their titles to the Spartan Browser in Win10 and the Cortana voice assistant in Winphone).
Nintendo can turn the rivalry into a friendship. Mario could get Sonic some stable ground, while the Hedgehog teaches the Plumber how to liven things up.
EA, Activision, and Ubisoft? They'd rather not buy a "Japanese" IP since they don't care much about the Japan market.

The Mario RPGs tend to defocus from Mario, to be fair.
