- Toph from avatar the last airbender?
- lighting from final fantasy XIII. She likes to pretend that she is an emotionless badass warrior. She hides a her soft side. when she bonds with the group her cheerful less serious-caring side is shown
- Future Trunks from dragonnballz. In his first aberrance. he was shown as very very serious and polite warrior. Not surprisingly considering his past. At the end of the cell saga he Showa more if his less serious side.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Wait, then would Haruhi Suzumiya fit under this trope?
Toph towards his parents is entirely another person. She opened more when she met the Gaang. If it wasnt for them she would have a facade of the weak girlTough I did put a question mark because I wasn't Sure.
Lighting and Trunks arent character development
Lighting acted that way to protect serah and because She didn't want to get attached to Hope. Trunks isn't really shy when you get to know him either. Compare Future trunks with present trunks.
Lighting opnened more thanks to hope
Trunks opened more thanks to goku and Krillin.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to have examples. I think this is one of those compromise pages that are supposed to keep people who think the trope should be called Dandere from having a massive Flame War with people who think the trope should be called Shrinking Violet.
Well, there should've been a message on the page saying, "Please, no examples." But since it doesn't, I presume...
It does actually say examples don't belong on it.
So if there's no examples then why does this even-
Main/Dandere found in: 129 articles, excluding discussions.
This title has brought 1,498 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
Oh. Damn.
It looks like Dandere appears mostly on Troper pages. But the outbound links, where do they come from...?
I'll bet people on anime forums are linking to this site to define the term. Unlike Tsundere or Yandare, this is pretty uncommon even in otaku circles.
you guys think we should add examples?
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.I don't think we should add examples, but I think the message saying they don't belong there should be more explicit.
Admitedly examples are scarce. But IMO they would enrich the article.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love. No, they wouldn't since they're already all covered by other tropes. This is just a term definition for something that is already a different trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOk. now that you mention it. It is very similar to Shrinking Violet.
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.It is. I think it might have had a fanspeak banner on it before which is why the no examples isn't more explicit.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSpecifically its a Shrinking Violet who can suddenly turn normal or a chatterbox when around a certain someone (like her best friend or something but not romantic) Take Miyazaki Nodoka from Negima she falls into Shrinking Violet early in the series but she is very open with her library club members, also another of the Library club Trio Yue falls into this Emotionless Girl though before the breakdown started especially visible in her big flashback.
The key to this trope would be the person or small group of people Shrinking Violet or such are open to.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!That makes it a Sub-Trope, they have examples
2012 will never happen, instead it will go straight to 2013Can't this then be a redirect to that trope, with an added mention of this term on that page? Otherwise, it just seems needlessly redundant to have the same thing in two different places.
As I said 3 posts ago these are quite different.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Then why can't it allow examples?
Hell if I know...
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The ultimate question about examples is, can anyone think of a Dandere who doesn't also fit one of the subtropes?
I noticed that the page Dandere has no examples. The description seems good, but it still missing a core part of a trope page. I can't think of any examples on the top of my head, but I recall seeing at least one character like this.
EDIT: And I find it very ironic that there is a Troper Tales page for it that is longer than the main page. How is that possible?
