Inspired by this tangent in another thread, I figured it might be an idea to have a thread about the idea of saying some group, or individual, or some general concept, saved one's life.

Like I was saying in that thread, it's a matter of circumstance. One can wonder if had circumstances been different, something else would have yielded similar results... but we can't change the past, and in turn, couldn't really test such a hypothesis.

[up]It's largely, when used in an argument, an appeal to emotion - after all, most people don't like to contribute to the suffering of others. Most of us have some degree of empathy.

And like I was saying in that thread, something different didn't happen. Ergo, this is irrelevant.

What if a color blind person, in different circumstances was deaf? What if Buddhism was the primary religion of the world? What if I didn't like cheese?

What's your point?

Its really not that weird. I mean, if some sort of program or procedure saved your life, wouldnt you get pissed off when you find out that a group wants to prevent others from getting the same help?

I dont know why they let me out, I guess they needed a spare bed
