Um, Genki Guy is a redirect to Genki Girl.
Oh, but Genki Boy redirects to Keet... I don't think it's a problem. It's basically to help make searching easier, anyway. If someone remembers the trope Genki Girl but can't remember the male trope that's kinda like it, it could help.

I don't think Genki Guy should be a redirect to Genki Girl. The trope has different implications for guys than it does for girls.

I think we should make a different trope for Genki Guy and Genki Boy to point at, that or cutlist them both as the misleading redirects they are. They're leading to Trope Decay and that is never a good thing.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI removed a bunch of examples that I know are bad. There are still a large number that look bad, but I've never seen the show and can't tell. I think people are just confusing this for Hot-Blooded or sugar high.
Known good(ish):
- 10th Doctor. He's not perfect but actually does work rather well a fair bit of the time. Also, he can be seen as a female Audience Surrogate. Especially when Jack is around.
- Gir. Also, not perfect, but he's hyper, loud, cute, and fits the female mindset more than the male.
If it's Genki and not a Keet, it's Genki. Drop the "Guy" or "Girl" nonsense.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.THIS!
However, to give fair argument there is a difference between Genki Girl and Boy. But I just wish we could just drop the gender all together and make it Genki-and put examples for both in there.

This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk.Keet is basically just a Genki Girl with male genitalia, which in my books isn't different enough. Rename Genki Girl to Genki Kid or something to include both genders.
Keet isn't just a Genki Girl. He's a Audience Surrogate for a female audience.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickBump. In that case there's a lot of bad examples from Western Animation. It will probably be easier making a seperate trope for Genki Guy / Genki Boy than merging Genki Girl with them and completely rewriting the description, maybe changing the profile picture, etc... Sides, different behaviour would probably be part of "genki" for guys and girls.

We often times have separate tropes for distaff vs. spear counterparts, especially when the implications differ between the sexes. See Clingy Jealous Girl vs. Crazy Jealous Guy, for example. That they are opposite sex counterparts is a distinction in and of itself.

There are a lot of bad examples on this trope period. Most people didn't actually read the trope description.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe image still sucks. All I see is a pink-haired boy screaming. Flapjack and Spongebob are better examples for images. How were they not picked? They're a lot more familiar and friendlier to people who don't watch many animes.
It seems to me democracy is not the answer here.
I TELL YOU HWAT!We don't choose pictures based on how popular the source material is, and we don't like pictures that depend on familiarity with the work in order to make any sense of them. In any case, you're bumping the thread that's not about the image to protest the image. The thread you're looking for is in the Image Pickin' section.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.If that's the case we also have bad examples from That Guy With The Glasses. (Linkara and Film Brain should NOT be called "real life" examples, and Chester A. Bum has been called an in-universe example elsewhere as well, which is... iffy.)
Yes, we have bad examples. Those should be removed. I took off the ones I recognized. If you would remove more of the bad examples it would be helpful. Why don't you take those all off then?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI wish the image was changed too, I suggested a much better image of a boy that DOESN'T look like a chick who is a correct example of Keet, but somehow that image won, anyways, not image discussion here, moving on.
This trope needs clean up. Also I think Genki boy and girl should be one trope, listing examples of Genki people.

This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk. And why don't we echew the Gratuitous Japanese in the title while we're at it, especially if the page is TL;DR. The title should explain the trope, as should the image.
Just as well, I'm assuming direct control and deleting that stupid image. Less talk, more do.
I TELL YOU HWAT!That image won the image picking crowner. Arbitrary onesided action is not the proper way to conduct oneself.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt's too late—he already did it . . . and is not in a position to not be able to do that sort of thing again.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Thanks Ironeye.
Fight smart, not fair.Wouldn't it be more... I don't know... fair to both sexes to rename the Genki Girl trope to Genki Person or something alike while we're at it? Or just get rid of the Gratuitous Japanese. If I weren't a troper for a while now, I would have no idea as to what this trope is by looking at the name.

Is Keet actually Japanese? I'm not sure where that term originates, but its not a Japanese word.
Crown Description:
Keet is a mess and is being used for a number of different things:- The Spear Counterpart of Genki Girl - hyperactive and usually loud
- The "hyperactive, gabby, inquisitive, cute little brother" type - cute and usually hyper
- The "cute, perky, effeminate young guy" type, found primarily in Shoujo & Boys Love Genre - does not have to be loud or hyperactive
Ok the image picking thread has gone on for 6 pages on exactly what this is...
Consensus seems to be this line
This is not strictly an Anime trope or a strictly BL trope since quite a few western examples such as Gir from Invader Zim (So I have been told)
However the current redirect is Genki Guy which is far far more broad, and then the examples are all over the map like Keef from Invader Zim and Adam Savage from Mythbusters... Who are most certainly not a Keet
