Hmm...tactics time!

The nearest states with Democratic governors:

  • Illinois (Pat Quinn's surprise victory is now useful for more than just redistricting, haha)
  • Kentucky
  • West Virginia
  • Minnesota

This corrupt bastard needs to be thrown out immediately.

I want to give this guy a score, but I ought to reserve judgement until I see if there's some nice fallout from this.

Has 4chan scored this guy yet? If so, what do they think?

In all due fairness, he doesn't appear to have a very close relationship with the funder in question. If anything, this is more worthy of condemnation on the basis of comparison, that he hasn't offered Democrats the same courtesy, rather than there being anything inherently wrong with him taking a call from a prominent businessman.

It really does a good job of indicating that he's absolutely not willing to compromise. Bipartisanship for Walker = the opposition letting him do whatever he wants, as per the norm for the GOP. On the other hand, we knew that already based on his unwillingness to drop the collective bargaining issue in favor of getting everything else he wanted. The people who are willing to support Walker right now aren't going to be swayed by more evidence of the obvious.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

Well, he did reveal one of the funky strategies he was going to try in dicking with constitutional procedure.

That said, unless Ian Murphy researched and then duplicated David Koch's style, it seems unlikely that he would have successfully fooled someone who knows David Koch personally, and I think that David Koch's style is probably hard to research anyway so this is probably unlikely. Therefore, most likely, Scott Walker doesn't actually know David Koch—not well enough at least.

just bugs me What is odd about the call is he isn't THAT close to them or he would have known the voice was off, and yet his staffers directed the call straight to him without further screening, and he talks as if he WAS on a first name basis.

idea I suspect he just was buttering the guy for the campaign contributions.

Calling him a clone of Nixon is an insult to the "not crook." At least he worked WITH the unions.

Also, in all this hubub, I didn't notice that the Bush era tax-cuts were extended, removing $120billion in taxes.

Well, of course there's a deficit. Many states are running deficits. I wasn't aware that was a point of contention.

Well some people were saying that Walker deliberately manufactured a deficit in order to justify his anti union crusade.

In that sense, this story has done it's job even if it doesn't change voter opinion of him, as it will hopefully prevent that little trick on the Democrats from working.

[up] Considering the unions were willing to work with him on reducing the deficit, it would seem he didn't even need an excuse.

Well, the idea is that those tax cuts wouldn't take effect until the next budget, so they're not really a factor. However, that still doesn't change the fact that the unions basically offered concessions and Walker said "No way!"

It's not about the budget anymore, anyone can see that. The teachers already agreed to the benefit cuts. In fact, everything has been agreed to except the bit about taking away state workers rights to collectively bargain.

And they won't cede that point. Because look at what the fuck things were like for average people before unions. Seriously, I'm tired of this "Unions are a huge waste of money, what do they even do???" crap. They make sure workers don't get fucked over, and if you don't think businesses would go right back to 1900's levels of fuck the workers over given the chance, I have some oceanfront property in Kansas I'd like to sell you.  *
