I wish the franchise the best of luck, it really needs it.
That said...
And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?I like that people are trying to maintain franchises, but...
I've always hated games like this.

Already posted this in the Guitar Hero is Dead topic.
Seriously, that design is terrible. Some guy told me some people think it's Ugly Cute. These people have no taste.
Honestly, the Broken Base actually agree that this is just bad.
For the last time, what system?
For the first time, none have been officially announced yet, so cool your jets, tiger.
Also, it's worth spinning off into its own target for those of us who just ignore the phrase "Guitar Hero."
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaWe don't know either, but judging by the screenshot, I'm guessing it's a Wii game at the least.
Honestly, I'm hoping this game will bomb just so someone else can take the franchise off Activision's hands.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hah! Yeah... I'm gonna pass on this. A bit hypocritical on my part, perhaps, but... yeah, this isn't gonna work with me.

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.^^ Thinking the series will go home?
Barcode games... I rue them ever since that thing with the dinosaurs came out that time years ago.

What, Insomniac, who don't give a damn about the series? Pfft.

"Don't give a damn"? Didn't they say its as painful as seeing your daughter do porn?
Well, to be fair, we would never have this mess if they didn't care so much about the idea of giving Spyro a gun. That, and if someone in Insomniac had played Jet Force Gemini.
Exactly. As I said, nobody on Insomniac had played Jet Force Gemini, which got around the exact problem.

^x2 That was Naughty Dog and Crash Bandicoot. IIRC, Insomniac gave up on Spyro because they felt that they were running themselves into a corner for gameplay.
^ Considering a certain other game with a non-humanoid gunslinger, as well as a beloved series revolving around dakka dragons, they probably could have had they truly wanted to.

And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?^^You mean when they started I5? A game with absolutely no guns at all? Learn your history.
^ Ahyes, now I remember.

Wait, on second thought... perhaps this game won't be that bad. I mean, it does sound rather interesting and, even though I'm still not exactly a fan of Spyro's new design, I guess I'll probably get used to it after a while. I'll just wait until I see some gameplay footage before I denounce/praise the game, though: gotta keep a cool head and all that jazz.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Yeah. Clearly, Insomniac didn't have enough passion in their own franchise.
I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.
Ace Combat Splinter Cell SSX Spyro Max Payne Devil May Cry
What else are getting unnecessary "reboots" or complete and total changes in tone?
Well, there's Kid Icarus, but that's more "gigantic gameplay shift" than "change in tone," that and people are far less negative about the shift than those that you just listed.

And "Reality" is unveiled. What did it want...? What did it see...? What did it hear...? What did it think...? What did it do...?That, and Nintendo aren't stupid enough to change the tone completely. Kid Icarus Uprising is a much-needed sequel to a series that hasn't had a game in more than a decade, anyway.

Huh. He looks like one of those Chinese lion guys. ◊
Don't forget Prince Of Persia, which got rebooted in the early 2000's, got rebooted again a few years ago, and then the reboot got unbooted to go back to the original reboot.

And that has nothing on Tomb Raider.
...This is a thing.
Aside from the obvious question of "Why the heck are developers so addicted to reboots these days," this is kind of unusual. The gist of it is, it's a game—but it comes with its own line of AR toys. You plug the game into your TV, it has a little camera, and it records stuff from the toys.
I actually think AR toys are pretty neat, so I have no objection to that. (What it might do to your wallet, on the other hand...) However, I really must take umbrage with the new Spyro design. At least the first reboot's design still looked like him, just "chibi-er" and with a broader snout. This Spyro is way too flat-faced—like a weird My Little Pony—and man, those teeth and half-lidded eyes make him look dopey.
On the other hand... Hans Zimmer soundtrack!
