-A Haxorus that hasn't been onscreen in a while is going down the aisles of a corner shop-

-Staring at a row of canned goods-

<AU!Vektor: "Uh... There's so many of kinds... How do humans tell the difference between them?" ._. >

-Maybe this wasn't such a good idea... Yes, Carol and the others were busy, and it felt satisfying to finally work up the courage to want to go out and do something outside... But it was so much more intimidating once one was out there...-

<AU!Vektor: "... I can do this... Red label... Red label...">

-Yes, peaceful days had returned to Kanto... But it sometimes felt so different... Seeing a particular street corner could dredge up memories that you'd worked so hard to try and bury, to forget, to pretend as if they never happened-

-Taking a can off of the shelf and heading down the aisle-

<AU!Vektor: "... I think this is it... I guess I'm supposed to-">

-And bumps into a trainer with earbuds and a jacket-

Earbuds!Trainer: "Oof! Hey what the-?!"

-Wait a minute? What would he be doing here? He's one of Carol's friends... Or was it Randy's? He knew he'd seen that face before. Wonder why he wasn't wearing that hat of his though?-

<AU!Vektor: "Oh! Hey! What are you doing here?">

-Understandably startled by being bumped into by a large, carnivorous foreign mon-

Tracer!Lookalike: "Uh..."

-It is at this point that a Typhlosion is drawing near. Its right ear has a rather visible notch, were it a creature without fur, a number of scars would be visible on parts of its body-

<TracerLookalike's!Typhlosion: "... What's going on here? And who the heck are you?">

-Backing off nervously-

-He didn't want to know what happened to that Typhlosion. And yet he was certain that he already did-

<AU!Vektor: "Er... S-Sorry... I th-thought your human was someone- Someone else.">

-Turning around and distancing himself as fast as he can without outright running-

-To his trainer, who is busy picking himself up off the ground-

<TracerLookalike's!Typhlosion: "Heh, why don't you turn up that music up a little louder? Maybe you'll walk into a wall next time!">

Tracer!Lookalike: "... Did we meet that thing before, Lyle?"

-And then there were the looks... Looks of fear... Of animosity... Of distrust... Looks that made you feel not like a mon, but a collection of teeth, claws, and scales. They were looks he'd known for many moons... From the battlefield... From people and mons under occupation... From lives he had helped to throw into chaos... From so-called "allies" who he envied because they were fortunate enough not to be cursed with the same burden he was... From captors... And ones he had given himself to the mons that had helped put him in all of the previous occurrences the first place-

-Appearing rather overwhelmed-

<AU!Vektor: "Oh...">

<9-Volt: "Hey, are you just going to stand there, or what?">

<AU!Vektor: "Huh? OH!">

-And looks down to see a waiting Raichu-

<9-Volt: "Well?">

<AU!Vektor: "I-I- What are you doing here, 9-Volt?">

<9-Volt: "The others said that someone should stay behind to check on you. You did find everything alright, didn't you?">

<AU!Vektor: "I-I think so, yeah...">

-But in the end... He could still be confident that there were at least some mons and humans who could see past that hide and everything attached to it... He was pretty sure that some of them didn't think particularly highly of him. But he knew that he was more than a mass of pointy bits to them...-

<9-Volt: "... Looks like everything, come on, let's get it paid for.">

-And more importantly... They seemed to care about him. Like they wanted to try and make him feel like he wasn't utterly worthless... Something that he had longed for for what had seemed an eternity before about 3 seasons ago...

And in the end, being able to know that was enough for him-

Hunter: -rubs his paw, scowling- That, uh, still doesn't tell me what a rescue team is.

Shinx: Are you sure you don't know what a rescue team is? Everyone knows what a rescue team is!

Hunter: Apparently not, 'cause I have no clue. But seriously, what's a rescue team? Are there seriously enough Pokemon around that need rescuing for teams that go out and do so to actually be a thing?

Shinx: Well, duh! Because there are the mystery dungeons all over the place! And rescue teams don't just rescue, they track down outlaws, and explore the dungeons, too!

Hunter: I'm gonna regret this, but what's a mystery dungeon?

Shinx: -stares- Where do you live, under a rock?

Hunter: Apparently...

-Hmm... It's been a while since this has happened... Well, actually, since several things have happened. It's been a while since I've been back in Unova... Since I've been in charge of leading a team... Or heck, just being in an airport-

"Thanks for your help, Suzan."

-Hard to believe that it's really been almost a year since everything's gotten so crazy for us. Not that Tracer was the paragon of normality to begin with... Most humans don't even have 6 mons travelling with them, let alone 2 "starters". Or possibly 3 in this case... Ms. Flowersaur here is apparently staying for at least a while-

-To Tracer-

<Pepper: "What on earth do you do on these research trips anyways?">

-Holding an incubator with a Zorua egg in it-

<Lardna: "You try and get a glimpse of mons as they normally live out their lives... And if they're feeling up to it, you have a good throwdown with them.">

-Rolls eyes-

<Pepper: "Oh yeah, that's very helpful for observing...">

-... What's her issue? Does she think that she's too good for us or something? Whatever, I'm sure it'll get better as she gets used to traveling with someone other than Luke. So where was I...? Oh yeah... Life getting a bit nuts for us-

P.A.: "-ows 1 to 17 of Flight 4308 to Mistralton are now boarding..."

-So apparently Tracer's a bit upset that he can't go to some freaky universe where everyone's a Pokemon right away... He kinda really dropped the ball with taking on assignments... Shame that Iggy and I are the only ones that are decently literate on the team... Tracer's one of those people who could use someone constantly giving him gentle reminders of what he's supposed to be doing... Or a good smack if that doesn't pan out-

<Pepper: "Hmm... I suppose this means that we should be preparing to leave, Tracer?">

"Probably... What's that universe like anyways, Pepper?"

<Pepper: "It's... Interesting... And the locals are nice...">

-And continues on-

-I don't know... I guess I'm kinda conflicted... I mean, a part of me wants to see just how crazy everything will get as the team leader, and to have a good time...-

"That would be us..."

-But... A part of me just wants to be able to take things slow... To return to what we used to consider normal. Yes, I know that most people don't consider miles wide labs normal, shut up. I don't know why... Maybe it's the fact that 3 of the mons with us are more or less kids? Andre's got spunk... But looks for trouble... Zoltan might as well need to get glued to a board with how often he flies off... Bottles is... Actually, I'm not sure what to make of the guy yet...-

-A certain Emboar looks down at the incubator she's holding-

-And then there's this little guy... Or girl. We won't know until it hatches... That all sure didn't stop me when I was younger... I wonder what happened since then?-

"Take care, girls."

<Pepper: "Have a nice flight, Tracer">

-Handing off the incubator and Zorua egg-

<Lardna: "See you on the other side, Tracer.">

"Er..."

<Pepper: "... Well that was mor-">

<Lardna: "You know what I meant!">

"Yeah, we know. See you two soon."

-Well, whatever happens, I'm pretty sure it won't be a total wash... Maybe we'll get a decent fight out of it!-
