(Voynich glances at Alys with terrified eyes.)

Alys' House

Alys: It fell. No matter. I'll simply start anew.

-she looks at Voynich gently-

It's OK, Clarice. Come near me.

Wilhelm: Hmph. I tried to warn Echo, but she would not listen.

(Voynich edges closer. Her expression turns into a significantly calmer look of pleading, though for what would be ambiguous to all but an empath.)

Illusion HQ, last night

Pent, can you tell me where you got hit?

-once Voynich comes close enough, Alys begins to gently stroke her neck-

Alys: Ah. You tried to warn her, was that it?

-after a moment, she continues-

Alys: You may not have emotions, Wilhelm, but you do have desires and ambitions. I knew exactly what they were the instant I saw you.

Illusion HQ - yesterday

-Blitz starts pulling out a first-aid kit as soon as he arrives on the scene-

Don't know why I never expected one of these guys to have a gun...

(Voynich seems to calm down upon being touched, but the sense of pleading remains.)

Wilhelm: Care to explain what those desires are?

-Pent is sitting here, bleeding blood pooling under his coat-

Midsection, right side. Probably gotten close to my stomach.

-He coughs a bit-

Or lungs, might be lungs.

Alys' House

Alys: To take over. To usurp.

-strokes Voynich's neck further-

Alys: On the day we switched bodies, I called you a parasite. It's still true. You want power, but you can't do anything on your own to do it, so you piggybacked on this poor girl, who was a simple victim of circumstance!

-pats Voynich-

(Voynich relaxes more, a small smile spreading across her face. Were Alys to read her, she would find just one thing - acceptance.)

Wilhelm: I did not piggyback on her. She was ruined, completely and utterly - no memories, no knowledge, nothing. I created her, made her the perfect human killing machine. If that is piggybacking, then all creation is a festival of piggyback rides.

-Alys looks at Wil. She practically nails him to the wall with her glare-

Alys: Precisely. When I wanted to make a name for myself, when I wanted power, I went out and worked myself. I did what I did for four years before I joined Illusion, and I did it by myself. I did not hide behind an insane psychic girl and let her do your dirty work.

Echo's Office — Past

-Grohl faints, leaving the sandstorm to slowly settle.-

Echo: I feared that I had nothing worth fighting for. Yet I was taught to never give up, no matter the reason. If I'd succeeded, I acknowledged that I shouldn't deserve to continue living afterward. I made nothingness my reason for fighting. And I became the villain for it.

-She sends out her Sableye-

Echo: Stitch, Power-Up Punch.

-Stitch scampers up onto Discord's face.-

Stitch: <Hai~>

-And applies his hand to it.-

Alys's House

(Wilhelm is unmoved by Alys's face.)

Wilhelm: And look where that got you. I, meanwhile, would be leading the Project were it not for the interference of Mew.

Illusion HQ, last night

Alright, we need to stabilize you and then get you to the hospital.

Alys' House

-Alys smiles, and gives a quick chuckle-

Alys: Where I am? Oh, you misunderstand. Instead of being an Administrator, I am now a Leader! I will start anew, and I can do whatever I want!

-smiles, more gently, at Voynich. She runs her hand down her cheek-

Alys: You, on the other hand...without Clarice, you would be useless. Neutralized.

-everyone sees it coming a bit too late. With lightning speed, Alys unsheathes a knife, raises it to Voynich's throat, and slashes-

Alys's House

(For all of a split second, Voynich looks shocked and pained. Such expressions quickly vanish, however, replaced with a look of sheer, rapturous bliss. As she slumps to the floor, she manages to choke out:)

Voynich: Thank you...

(Wilhelm just stares, unable to quite conprehend what he just witnessed.)

Alright, sounds... Good...

-Cringes-

Hate projectile weaponry, far too impersonal and uninvolved.

Alys' House

-Alys goes to one knee, petting Voynich's hair further-

Alys: Can't you feel it, Clarice? All of your pain leaving? Every memory of what's been done to you, draining away? You can feel it even now, can you?

-smiles. She looks genuine-

Alys: I can't promise if there's anything after all of this, but I can promise that you'll never feel pain again. Perhaps you'll see Flood again! Would you like that, Clarice?

Illusion HQ

Salvador: Might need to find him a stretcher and get him to one of the unteleproofed rooms...

Once again, Salvador just appears behind the group.

Salvador: Not really in the job description, but it's in our best interests that he stays alive. Get him there, then teleport him to the nearest hospital.

Blitz: "Ugh... right..."

-Blitz looks distinctly uncomfortable at the moment, but moves closer to try and get some gauze and pressure on the wound-

"Yeah, can't get a bullet out here..."

Salvador: You were trying to... remove the bullet?

Salvador makes the sign gesture.

Salvador: -To Pent- You may have needed a Chaplain after all...

(Voynich nods, an action that seems to take the same amount of effort for her as climbing [Everest]. Wilhelm starts to edge along the walls of the house.)

-she turns back to Voynich-

You don't have to worry about him anymore, Clarice. Goodbye.

-she reaches down to Voynich's chest and slowly pushes her knife in-

-Pent half-chuckles-

Good to have a sense of humor in this line of work...
