Well, I guess that Top Gear wants to appeal to racists.

Top Gear... they've never been PC. They're offensive towards pretty much everybody.

Not defending those remarks, but I didn't find that clip all that remarkable.

I always found the British Comedy too mean-spirited to actually be funny, so I´m not offended as a Mexican as much as an amateur comedian...

Overreaction much? Jeremy Clarkson, the national treasure he is, just likes to poke fun at everyone. Unfortunately or perhaps intentionally, he always seems to joke about those nations which have a poor sense of humour.

[up]Probably, everybody has the right to say whatever they want, insulting or not, and as such right is sacred to me, I'm going to express what I really think about the Brits...

...

...Na, just kidding, you're cool, I'm not gonna judge people just by three a-holes or for silly stereotypes (I wish they do the same, but, c'est la vie)

I doubt they were actually judging Mexicans by the stereotypes they mentioned. It might have been insensitive, but it clearly wasn't serious.

From what I gather from this thread, it'd be like complaining that you were offended by the creators of South Park then?

They don't normally go quite as far as South Park, but along those lines.

Edit: Fixed the spelling in the title cause it was annoying me.

Same here. I haven't been able to watch it in several months and the History Channel one isn't working as well.

Weird joke. I wasn't aware there was a "Mexicans are lazy" meme. In fact, the Mexican stereotype I'm most familiar with is the notion that they make for especially industrious workers.

The BBC has offered an apology

For my own part, I thought that they took it rather far over the top, but I was't particularly surprised. Every nationality gets fun poked at it at some point on Top Gear, and this isn't the first time that something like this has happened.

I would also point out that a cross-party group of M Ps aren't happy with it either. The timing does also seem to be a bit unfortunate since it turns out the Deputy Prime Minister is visiting Mexico this month...

Actually that was kinda funny; then again I have thick skin and a fucke dup sense of humor. That being said, where to they get the idea that Mexicans are lazy? They should come over here and see Mexicans busting theirs asses doing jobs nobody wants to touch.

I'm going to pretend I didn't hear a Brit criticize Mexican food.

It's the sterotype here — big fedoras, long sleepy seistas, and the country still looking like The Magnificent Seven. And anyway, we've got different people representing the hard-working immigrants — Poles, Slovaks and other Eastern Europeans.

Of course there's a Mexicans are lazy meme. Mexicans aren't Asian, this automagically makes them have a laziness stereotype.

Yes, they were neutral in World War II, but they've been scary-nationalistic for a while now.

I don't think they'd made fun of mexicans before, so they had to fit in as many stereotyping jokes as possible to make up for it. Calm down, sometimes they go a little too far, but they do try to mock everyone equally.

Comments needs extra m.

Their oversight is the fact that across the pond, Mexican jokes fall within the racist joke category rather than the nationality joke category(which is a tad weird, since Mexico is about as ethnically diverse as you can get). And they do the nationality ribbing on everyone, as has been pointed out before.
