Spider-Man General Discussion

Go To

This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.

  • Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
  • Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
  • Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.

Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.

Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.

Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

     Original Thread OP
Since everyone likes talking about him. I know little about him(Ironically,I got nearly all I know about him from a Batman thread),but he's apparently important so I made this thread. Enjoy.

I think it would be neat to have a female symbiote host for serious. It would be nice considering the original plan for Venom.

I mean, there was Scream but she was crazy and then Eddie Brock killed her.

I think if I were to reboot Marvel (ducks a hale of tomatoes and shoes), Venom's long-term host would be a woman.

And Eddie Brock would be...I dunno, he'd be some random Hulk villain that gets the shit mutated out of him or something.

[up][up] Scream was genuinely good in two stories, plus there's Scorn and that one from True Believers.

There was a Power Pack story where MJ was possessed by the Venom symbiote, however briefly.

Now that I think about it, they might have recycled the original plan for Venom with Coldheart; they never gave her a complete origin, but it's implied that she went crazy because her son died due to being in the vicinity of a battle between supers that might have involved Spider-Man.

Black Cat's new outfit is so ridiculous that it has to be intentional. I mean, her boobs are a cat's face... c'mon.

Also, wild mass guessOMD altered things so that Peter always kept the mask on when she and him did it.wild mass guess

Toxin's death is, I think one of my least favorite comic deaths. It wasn't seen, it wasn't even mentioned. It was confirmed in an interview. I think that really says a lot about how little Remender cared for that character.

Marvel in general doesn't seem to care for heroic symbiotes who aren't for Venom, seeing as how they're always either Put on a Bus, killed, or both. I'm sure somewhere down the line Payback, Scorn, Mania, and Hybrid!Dog will cameo as corpses in the background of a Crisis Crossover.

Yikes, I had no idea there were so many of them. I can't blame Marvel for wanting to dispose of them, since there being so many sounds rather ridiculous, even though I guess they should have at least tried while doing it...

like the Tribbles from Star Trek?

Sort of - they don't breed nearly as fast, fortunately, but they do reproduce simply by leaving a new one behind.

Also, they're not nearly as cute, friendly, fuzzy, and cuddly.

Frankly, they'd probably love Klingons if they ever met them.

Still in Philly.

While Flash is IIIN SPAAACE!

Funny (not really) how no one has thought to bring her over to some teen super team book like Avengers Academy.

[up][up] I loved that scene in Assemble. I loved that whole arc of Assemble, but that scene was so hilarious. Anya's great.

The Kaine scene is probably the second best moment of the series. This entire issue is the best moment.

"Undertone"? Half of his dialogue was about that. The other half was about being a monster.

So if my understanding is correct, Spider-Verse will involve anyone with a spider symbol. Does that include Agent Venom? Even though he's out in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Or is my understanding wrong?

EDIT: Oh, wait, I looked up the Spider-Verse trope page. Agent Venom is gonna get involved. Never mind. But that does raise the question, how will the Guardians factor in, if at all?

I just heard that the 1967 version of Spider-Man is a part of this event. Is this confirmed, or just speculation? And if so, does he speak in image macros?

Even though he's out in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Why do you think Karn is wearing that helmet?

I hope we get both Dennis Leary and Emma Stone staring disapprovingly at Peter in 3.

Since Gwen died (spoiler!) Leary's apparition is a going to disapprovingly stare the shit out of Peter.

Anya's great.

Yes.
