stuck on that one chapter 1 map where this warrior woman is in need of help.

kind of at a loss here. the dragon is not only a bitch to hurt, but appears to have a ZOC stopping my cleric from reaching the npc in time, and the npc of course is dumb as a sack of bricks and takes every measure to make sure she dies quickly. and theres an enemy with a unique portrait. kinda worried about killing him. meanwhile the boss is as big a tank as the dragon.

guess i need to give someone draconology...

[up] I gave up on her. She should have been awesome like Hobyrim, who still marched blindly against the enemy but beat them up, both in his introduction cut-scene and actual gameplay.

Hobs has an absurd dexterity stat, though.

[up][up]I managed to do it without this, but I heard it's effective to remove the armor from one of your units, because enemies prioritize those with lower defense.

You could also buy a Lobber from the store and give it to Canopus as his secondary weapon. He has the most maneuverability of any unit at this point, so you can get him into a position to heal her effectively. You may wanna buy some of the better healing items as well.

i saved her. not too happy about it though.

that was the attempt where i gave canopus draconology to let him hit the dragon harder. it was useless. it only let him do twice as much damage as before- and he was only doing 1 damage prior. sigh. well thats 100 and something points wasted.

aaanyway. wasnt a satisfying thank you like i was expecting :/ she called me a hypocrite because i fought for walisters sake. or was it selfish? or was it both?

either way, i feel im in the right here; waaaaay more achievable than peace, and more than reasonable considering galgastani kind of led a purge on walister?

Cistina is kind of boring and not a very good unit. She's also far too idealistic. I basically keep her around for an endgame quest.

Current number of Glass Pumpkins: 11. Still need another 19.

[up]You're actually gathering all of those? Jeez. It's almost inspirational.

Cistina is really naive, but there's some truth to what she's saying.

I know! It shall be a testament to my stubborness! Now that I know exactly which enemies drop them, I'm doing pretty well, getting at least one per fight.

what.

vyce kills ravness with a single crossbow bolt?

thats not a very convincing arguement to not slaughter innocents, game.

though, chances are i'd probably be killing her myself if i did kill the innocents.

vyce's sudden transformation into evil vyce is...jarring.

[up]Evil!Vyse could have worked if they applied any level of subtlety to it.

Not that it matters, since you should have taken the Law Path.

i suppose but...i dont really feel like re-doing that 2nd fight? it took way too long.

does ravness at least survive in that path?

She attacks you and you have to win the battle without killing her(at which point she escapes and can be recruited via a chain of sidequests).

You could always just beat the game on Chaos or Neutral and then come back later, tho.

This was probably touched on a thousand times already, but the number of parallels between this game and Final Fantasy Tactics is pretty staggering. Vyce is basically Delita but with the subtly, ambiguity, and misguided noble intent removed (at least in the chaos path, why they felt they had to go the extra mile and give him a crackhead design just to cement it is beyond me). Denem is a slightly more blood thirsty Ramza, And Catiua is a less passive composite of Alma and Princess Ovelia, at least as far as combat is concerned. It's a little obnoxious how pouty and typical Hollywood feminine she is besides.

I'm only on early Chapter 3, now, on the chaos route. Are there any story branches paths beyond the major first two?

There's an event which decides Catiua's fate, but I don't recall any major deviations.

[up][up]I think Vyce would have come off less "comic book villain" and more "kind of a jerk" if they gave him a less dumb looking portrait.

Honestly, the optional dialogue he has with Catiua the first time you meet him in Chaos Chapter 2 is pretty spot-on, so it's not like he became a total moron.

$5 on PS Plus, so I went and bought this. Played through every FFT game several times, so it seems like a nice change of pace. Necroing the thread so I can do something of a running commentary/possibly get tips.

Specifically, any suggestions on classes? Past "Archers are broken as hell."

Just did the opening mission. Digging the characters and story so far. Obviously getting major FFT-vibes, just without that FFT flavor. Not going to lie, I miss my Black Mages.

I didn't expect one of my favorite games to have a thread. Good thing; I was missing having a place to talk about it.

Goddamn, Mt. Weobry is a motherfucker.

Looked it up and apparently the dragons are Neutral. So I guess I'll try again and see if ignoring them works.

But seriously, bunch of dragons, a few Undead units that come back to life, and then it keeps spawning reinforcements (at a fairly alarming rate)? Not to mention that the golems or whatever are annoying Stone Walls and take a lot of concentrated fire to bring down.

EDIT: Nope, Dragons are certainly not neutral. Fuck, this is straight up unwinnable, huh?

Well... I dunno about the Law Path. While Ravness seems like a great addition, ever since playing the PS1 version, I've always had a soft spot for the Phoraena sisters, especially Cistina, and so I couldn't bear to see them dead by picking Ravness.

Well, I get the worst of all worlds on that because Ravness died (thanks to me assuming that "not murdering the people she wants to protect" would be the option that lets me recruit her) and Cistina is a stupid suicidal bint.

[up][up] Whoa, I didn't know you also were a fan of Tactics Ogre.

I always do the Chaos Route, on the PSP before doing the others. This reminds me I have to pick up my slack on the second CODA before rewinding into the end of Chapter 2C.

Alright, beat Mt. Weobry. That was... a pain. Fortunately the actual bosses of the Chapter were a breeze.

So now on Chapter 4. Whoo. And just strolled into Port... something and got rocked by level 20-22 guys and my strongest is level 16. Whelp, to the woods to grind!

So what's the difference between the Wizard/Enchantress and Warlock/Witch? I'm trying out the Witch for fun, but she won't be to a decent level for a while so I wonder if I'm just wasting my time.

[up][up][up]Meh. To each to his own. I still like the faux fat girl best. I'm supposing because it's me with Nostalgia Goggles turned on, but still.

(or me just picking things that the majority does not take)

It's a joke. Cistina's sprite on her loose robes made her look like a fat girl instead when she's not actually.
