PARTY PARTY PARTY I WANNA HAVE A PARTY
Does anyone know any recent games with heavy Cosmic Horror Story influences? It should have good atmosphere and manageable gameplay. Beyond that, surprise me. I've been wanting something different for a while now.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery.

Goodfae: a mafia web serial
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Neither Resident Evil nor Silent Hill have anything on that.

Dead Space is a mix of this, zombie movies, and the Alien films.

I have a Wii to play it but I haven't had much luck finding a copy of Sanity's Requiem in most used game stores around town. Dead Space sounds like it may be worth a look, especially with the sequel being released and all.

Also, can an admin or somebody fix my horrific typo? Stupid iPod touch screen... *grumbles*

There's also Dead Space: Extraction for Wii, if you like lightgun shooters and can find it.

Also, play Eversion. Yes, really. I'm saying anything more than that.

Dead Space is more focus on zombies/body horror.

The cosmic horror elements are there, but they're certainly not that prominent, especially at the beginning. Dead Space 2 has a bit more, but still is pretty light.

I'd go with Eternal Darkness..
Dude, zombies don't move like Necromorphs. Even fast zombies. Zombies aren't made from human tissue and bone broken apart and reassembled in fucked-up ways. And headshots don't kill Necromorphs.

^So? Resident Evil also has human sized lizards.
Time to change the style, for now
...Good point.

Also, Resident Evil 2 has Birkin. 'nuff said.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.
The Penumbra trilogy of survival horror adventure games is heavily influenced by the Cthulhu stuff.

I am reviving this topic to ask what the Cosmic Horror elements in Dead Space are.

Yep, My Brain Stopped
The Marker is pretty much cosmic horror tech. Only played the original game, so I don't know if 2 added in anything else.

It did, intensified the Cosmic Horror aspect by taking the Mind Screw further and essentially introducing more sides to the conflict in the form of the (marginally) misguided Unitologists, which, while worshipping the Marker and all it produces, are unaware of its full spectrum of functions and true purpose. Sort of like what the average cultist in The Unspeakable Vault (of Doom) does, I guess =) Turns some of what we were told in the first game right on its head. =)

Chzo Mythos. Though they're only Cosmic Horror near the end.
