Didn't see any thread for this, so I figured now would be a good time to start one since they just released a photo of the costume. I like it! Definitely makes me excited to see the new direction this series will go in.

It doesn't look bad, but at the same time I've gotten so used to the original movie costume (which was already so close to the comics, where this one does it's own thing) that I dunno if I like it.

Kinda reminds me of Kick-Ass.

Might be good, but it's still far too early for a revival, and the circumstances surrounding it's conception are still a little iffy for me.

I like the drippy look it has, like paint or something. The only think that irked me initially was the lack of belt in front, but I'm already over it. Also, the fact that the webbing sorta stops past his sternum seems a little weird. But whatevs.

I really wanna see the mask now.

i hate the idea that they needed to reboot spiderman so soon

that said the cast and costume are pretty cool(the old costume was better IMO but I always thought toby maguires(SP) acting wasn't all that good)

andrew garfield was amazing in the social network

although the problem with having gwen stacy in the movie is people will be expecting her to die at some point

I guess I'm the only one who dislikes the new spidey costume. I mean, I think Andrew Garfield does look the part and fit the build better than tobey maguire but that costume...ew. I think it's the lack of webbing, like peter just went "eff it I can't be bothered doing the pattern after the top half" and the lack of the belt means that the red section just awkwardly and abruptly stops.

The gloves look pretty sweet though with the snazzy blue lines.

^^Have you even seen #3? There's no way they could recover from that otherwise.

Why did they need to reboot the series, again? It didn't seem like it had crashed and burned the same way The Hulk did.

Because it doesn't get much worse than out-of-character moments and overly rushed pacing done within two hours.

From what I hear, it went like this: Raimi had an idea for the next film, and it was in some form of production - from what I hear, it involved the Lizard finally getting an appearance, with maybe Kraven (it's been a while). However, Raimi needed more time to produce it, and told Sony he needed more time to work everything out better.

Sony wanted them to crank out a film as soon as possible, conflict ensued, Raimi left, Sony hired someone new, and they ended up making a new movie from scratch that, ironically, would be produced in around the amount of time Raimi said he needed for the fourth film anyway.

Ridiculous Executive Meddling, basically.

The little black squares are off-putting. Why do movie creators feel the need to make cinematic superhero costumes contain as much black as possible? What, is that more realistic? It's a man in a red/blue full-body stocking! Little black squares ain't gonna help!

I feel... conflicted on the costume.

that costume.

Meh, it's okay, it's too future-y for me. It feels like it should be the costume of a cybernetic spider-man during some multi-universe clone saga. In short, I don't like it as much as I want to due to how it's being used.

I feel like Garfield's too old to play Spiderman and that costume....Hmmm I actually like it a lot it looks pretty stylized. I agree though it needs a belt. I want to see the mask though. I wonder if it's different in any way.

Seems more to me like a modern full-body swimsuit with colors altered.

@Scisless - There's zero info out besides casting choices. There's nothing to base judgments on yet.

^ I remember they were planning on making it more of a teen drama and less of an action movie, that could have changed though.

That's probably just speculation based on the fact they're going back to his high school years.

I think the black splotches on the costume are dirt, not part of the costume. Peter's face has some dirt/blood on it, like he'd just got out of a fight.

I do think the spider logo's a little funny. I don't like the two vertical stripes that come out of it, why is that necessary. It doesn't look cool.

To be fair, drama's always had a strong presence in the Spider-Man mythos. A straight-up action film wouldn't work for the character, anyway.

As for the costume, I'm not really a big fan of it. Mostly the lack of a belt. Just looks really weird without it.
