Discworld Death and Endless Death are both kinda workaholics. Difference is Discworld Death is the kind of workaholic who takes his job a little TOO seriously, and has built his life around it rather than the other way around. Endless Death is a workaholic because she enjoys her job and all it's perks.
to answer your question, they don't
http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/ http://sagan4.com/forum/index.phpI think crossover ships work mostly (there may be some stories in which they work, but good luck finding them) only as Crack Pairing. Of course, the thing with crack pairings is, that they don't work...
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Traditionally, I don't think being 'Crack' means that it won't work. To me its about having a concept that, on its face, is patently absurd. Doesn't mean that the writer can't treat the topic seriously and make it work.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Several crossover pairings could work better than some pairings between characters of the same franchise-series. Even rather a few Official Couples.

Bumping this up because I've recently realized I have a thing for Rydia and Terra.
It works well doesn't it.
One Strip! One Strip!Mine was (adult) Rydia and (adult) Rikku. I haven't been able to figure out why except that their skills complement one another's and the serious/flighty mix would be fun to play with. Actually, now that I think about it, they'd probably work better as partners and friends.
Don't quite get the complimentary skills thing, but, I accept it.
Funny since I've gone on a few anti-shipping rants when I think about it, but only when it leads to Die for Our Ship.

One Strip! One Strip!Me as well. If you're going to ship Alice with Bob, then be prepared for people who think Bob belongs with Candy.
I'm considering shipping Twilight Sparkle/Patchouli Knowledge.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI have a feeling that I'll be publicly flogged to death if I say that I'll be shipping Tintin/Ritsu in my ongoing crossover fic.
...and is also very handy if you want to avoid Slash Fic and Mary Sue.

WARNING: This troper is a severe monomaniac. Caution is advised. Now that's unconventional! But oddly intriguing.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Where is it? I've searched for so long, but I can't find it anymore. Damnit, that shit was epic!
Mentioning My Little Pony ships without the most famous one? For shame.
Fanfiction I hate. You want baffling crossover ships? I'll give you baffling crossover ships!
