Now that I finally have a somewhat-fantastical, creepiness-light(er) story idea, I want some feedback on it before I get back to writing it. I still have to work out some kinks in the plot. Basically, it's this:

A man is running away from a multi-limbed Eldritch Abomination, doubting the likelihood of his survival, only to realize that he has a way out of this problem: he has a tennis ball in his pocket, and the main head of the monster is a happy dog. He gives the ball to the dog, and it befriends him. The End.

I'm hoping to get extra favor from the judges for the underlying theme of the story, but that might not be readily apparent.

Thoughts?

What IS the underlying theme of your story? *feels dumb* O__o

I think it's "you can attract more flies with honey then vinegar," but I'm not sure, which is funny when you consider how that translates to "you can attract more dogs with balls..."

Anyways, the idea's good, but as always ~it's just an idea, go make something out of the idea, etc. etc.~

The (hopefully) underlying theme moral will be "don't run from it just 'cause it looks funny/scary/ugly/whathaveyou. It might just want to be friends."
